Nobody's picked up on the shocking use of auto tune on the auditions then?

They mentioned it on GMTV this morning.

I thought one of them had a autotuney sound to their voice, wonder how they got into the auditions.

ITV confirmed this morning that audio is "subject to editing" - read: vo-coding and autotune - before broadcast, but that "the judges make their decision based on what they hear live".

What a crock. A singing competition that re-tunes the contestants for the public and then asks them to pay money to vote?

It absolutely disgusting.

It's amazing how this show continues... Cheryl having unfortunately been ill, Simon losing interest for bigger things abroad, dodgy editing, auto-tuning the auditionees, Konnie Huq not very good on the spin-off show, the winner losing out on the Christmas No 1 again (I hope..!).

I'm with Dame Vera Lynn... NEXT!

I'm slightly puzzled why this rather outrageous deception by the producers isn't getting a harder time on this forum.

Have to assume that most who watch are turning a blind eye because its their favourite show?

This I find to be lame.

I don't watch and haven't heard, but I truly find it appalling. Yes it's an entertainment show but it's also a talent show, primarily, and if they can't even get that right, what's the point? Though of course it's far more than a talent show - I never watch it, but did see one of the live shows last year (I was round a friend's and though I told them how much I disliked the show, I could hardly say 'get that off') and found it truly eye-opening. So many things were wrong with it, it's hard to know where to begin. They autotune? Sad, but not surprising, for me.

I am an X Factor fan, and it while it is sad they do this, I am not surprised. Also when it gets to the live shows it will be live and i don't think its been used on past live shows. The auditions seemed so drawn out, the problem with the judges (which couldn't be helped), it just seemed to show a show that has lost its way.

For me the show won't properly begin until Dannii is back. And lets all remember if someones ****, they are **** (can you autotune ****?)

Actually, you can autotune **** to the point where people will say, "he's a bit ****, but at least he can carry a tune".

And then they ring in and spend a quid of their benefits to SiCo.

Can't say it bothers me, it's always had it's fare share of lousy singers, auto-tuning or not.

It's a bit of disposable TV froth, not to be taken too seriously.

It's rather odd as the voting only kicks in when they are singing live and therefore cannot be tuned to the same extent. Seems bizarre they'd decide the point before voting kicks in to perfect things before making it worse when you're actually voting for them.

You often get some judges comment at the live shows "That wasn't as good as your first audition, I liked that better", which - although it's mad saying that has anything to do with it - will now add to suspicion on how they edit. There's an episode of Screenwipe where Charlie mentions the terrible editing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zl0eBeelRPw (2:45 in)

The autotuning was worse than Cher.

It was horrible and any credibility that The X Factor had is now gone. Did producers really expect viewers not to notice?

I thought Geri Halliwell actually did a good job at the auditions; I liked her. Probably am the only one though, Im guessing.

I think you'll find people will still tune in in their millions, guaranteed, and ITV know this. If you autotune a singing turd on the show at 7.30pm on a Saturday night it's still a ratings winner. To ITV/SyCo/Cowell whoever else, this is just another thing to put under the 'Controversy' list.

Perhaps I'm wrong but I very much doubt it.
