Only a day earlier this year. It depends on what date christmas falls on because next Sunday (19th) is the christmas number one as Christmas Day falls on the Saturday afterwards.
Didn't catch it - but I guess it it was promoting the X Factor tour - it would have broken the rules last year, but ( as I've 99% sure has been discussed on here before) Ofcom rules have changed this year to allow people that are in the shows to be in that shows ad break's. i.e Cheryl's been in the X factor break with the Loreal ad's and Ant and Dec were in the break of IAC Final last week.

Didn't that X Factor Tour commercial just break every rule going?

Although I believe there is still a rule about making sure not to confuse viewers by making the adverts resemble the programmes. I'm not sure of the wording, but I wonder how close advertising the paid for version of the programme comes to breaking those rules.
Robbie Williams was on both The X-Factor and Strictly Come Dancing yesterday evening. Which performances, if any, were live?

He would never have made the final by himself.
I'm slightly disappointed there isn't a Christmas tree on the stage this year.
I also don't see how Liam Payne (see below) was put into the group, when he was good enough to be solo.

It was in the middle of the ad break, and basically looked like a segment of the show, complete with Peter Dickson voice over and flashy graphics. The general message was BUY YOUR TICKETS NOW! At no point did it state that it was an advertisment.

Yeah I did see the ad later on ITV2 - like I said the rules have been relaxed, but their pushing it a bit fine with the same graphics etc ( and i don't thnk there've even put an "Advertisement" disclamer or something to that effect like other ad's to cover themselves)

Good. Much earlier this year isn't it... at this rate the next series of I'm a Celebrity... will be starting tomorrow.
The only problem with it ending two weeks before Christmas is that it leaves a gap in the weekend schedule. Though looking at it, they've added in one of the Cube celebrity specials along with take me out. Though they have added a filler programme, something like the best movie moments.
A question about next year, with Christmas Day 2011 falling on a Sunday, does that mean that the Christmas number 1 is announced on Christmas Day? And if so will the X Factor end on the same week as Strictly? (presuming that both are commissioned & will air during the standard period)
