So with Wagner now out of the competition, apparently this is the new campaign to keep Simon Cowell off the Christmas no.1 spot.

And so Wagner finally leaves. Laughing

Also with the Xtra Factor I've noticed over the past few weeks they've been making a few tweaks to the format. The main one being the judges questions section, which has reverted to being done at the judges desk (per previous years). They've also axed the list of callers, and instead are given the callers which on Saturday now tends to include one celebrity (this week was Harry Hill), this week also introduced taking a question from a member of the audience. I think Konnie has improved during the series and now seems more confident & relaxed.

She's improved but not enough to be invited back next year IMO. As for The Xtra Factor - judges back at the desk is good, but they should cut back to one caller each so the host can have a proper chat with the judges and address the obvious issues before handing over to callers for the less obvious questions.

They're talking more now to the acts themselves on stage at the beginning, but I think it's a sham that a show which is supposed to be all about The X Factor has pretty much ditched the contestants. Getting their views in the studio "off stage" shows a different side to them, plus they can take calls too which can ask the questions the studio host wouldn't get away with, and I'd have thought most people interested in The X Factor would much rather hear from the contestants than yet more C-list celeb guests.

Quick question - does anyone know what the piece of music is called that used to be played a lot on The X Factor during the pre-performance VTs? It's quite dramatic and I'm pretty sure I've heard it elsewhere too.

It's bugging me...

Sadly it's not any of them. It's quite dark and electronic.

I'm sure Charlie Brooker mentioned the song's use on either Screenwipe or Newswipe a few years back.

Hopefully a red herring, but Louis Walsh saying 4 acts will be in the final.

You're not counting Band Aid 20 in 2004 then?

The winners single will probably be of lesser significance this year, given that they are intent on releasing tracks from the XF after every weekly performance.

yeah plus after last years not getting xmas number 1 - I wouldn't be surprised if Simon changed the final , so not to mabye lose the xmas number 1 "battele" again!

I believe the song comes out on the 13th thus it could get to No1 week before, but again all it would do it knock it of the chart
