I was surprised she made it to the live shows really. To be fair with the recorded shows she got better as they went on, but she is struggling with the live shows.

Also hating how Xtra Factor seem to have ditched the contestants over the last couple of weeks. Not seen tonight's, but assuming like last week and last night it's been more about guests, journalists, experts and the "peoples panel" rather than the actual contestants.

seems to be kicking off (in the usual DigitalSpy way) on the X Factor forum...

The ITV terms and conditions for the X Factor vote says...
Quote:
The outcome of the vote will be shown in the programme on ITV.

Weeks 1 – 4 (inclusive)
The act with the lowest number of votes will be eliminated from the competition. The next two acts with the lowest number of votes will then face the judges.

Weeks 5 to 7 (inclusive)
The two acts with the least amount of votes will face the judges.

Weeks 8 – 10 (inclusive)
The act with the lowest number of votes will be eliminated from the competition.

Final
In the final show, the act with the most votes will be declared the winner.

The problem seems to be that two acts were meant to be out tonight according to the terms and conditions but as we know only one act went.

terms and conditions will also say ITV or Siycon? can changes these at any time...

Makes more sense to just have one act out tonight then spring a surprise double mid-series, and then probably do a double on the semi-final weekend. I'm sure increasing Simon's chances of keeping two acts in the competition had nothing to do with it.

I'm liking this week's tweaks to the results show, especially the pre-titles live section with Dermot backstage... its definitely something that I've missed since the Kate Thornton days of the show.

Yeah I thought that worked quite well too.

Would work better though if the subtle intro wasn't followed by the over the top intro!

Shame though Xtra Factor is getting worse every week. Really annoying the contestants input has been dropped to just the on stage quick chats at the beginning of the Saturday show and one behind the scenes VT.

Yeah that was the only thing. You either need one of the other. I think they did something simialar last year. Where the contestants were on stage with their back to the audience with Dermot walking and then and overshot of the audience.

Predictably after last night's shows there's people wanting to complain to OFCOM that the show's fixed. Sounds like controversy on a par with Britains Got Talent the other year, and will presumably get thrown out.

I'm assuming the (official) reason for deciding to have a majority judges vote instead of going back to Cheryl was due to them running out of time, particularly as she had stated she would send it to deadlock. I noticed the end credits were very short consisting of about two slides, which would back up them being out of time. I assume they couldn't overrun due to the Xtra Factor waiting to start on ITV2, though this hasn't stopped other live shows from overrunning in the past (eg. Brit Awards).

A judge cannot vote for 'deadlock' they have to vote for one of the acts. If 'deadlock' is the outcome then so be it.

By declining to vote, she forfeited that right, and so it became a simple majority vote. Seems simple enough.

Yeah, but usually in these situations the judge whose acts are up will vote last therefore forcing deadlock. What's unusual is the fact they went to her second. Personally I think the way they did it last night is the better way of doing things but considering we're already well into a series it seems a bit unfair to move the goalposts last night.

Yeah I noticed that, they do normally have the full credits on the Sunday, so it must have been.
