Firstly apologies if there is already a thread - I did have a look but couldn't see one and the Search function isn't working so couldn't use that to double check even if I wanted too.

As the new X Factor site is now live I thought it was the perfect time to open a thread for it.

Also it is near enough confirmed that the show launches in 2 weeks time on Saturday 21st August.

As with every series there are lots of rumours going about - one being that the live shows performances will be released to download and therefore, fill a lot of the Top 40.

So what is everyone thoughts on the new series?

I Think there may be a thread but I cant see it at the moment so will use this.

I think the team they have is good and Cheryl and Danni if they want to should be aloud back .

This Niccole synsomethin has a cheek to tell simon what to do with his categories and she is a bit full of herself.

Dermot should not have a job risk of christine bleakley is she trying to take over itv hes safe for this series anyway.

Its not fair on the Boys and Girls that its been extended to over 28s .

And also Konie should be good on Xtra factor.

Interesting that there's always a thread about the X Factor but never about Strictly! Never mind though.

Releasing the live performances is a crafty trick indeed. Presumably SYCO have realised that millions download them off Limewire/P2P sites and so have centered on another profit-making area.

The panel is always an interesting one and always prompts a family debate. Why Simon? OK, so he knows what sells, and arguably that's his reason for existence on the show. Interestingly, a friend of mine auditioned a while back and was told he was "too musical theatre". So they're not really looking for talent, more saleability.

Cheryl? Hmm. Her only real duty seems to be to produce a few teary segments in the audition VTs and to give poor feedback in the live performances.

Louis... only there because of the chemistry between him and Simon.

Dannii... say no more. Although ironically, for the arguably least well known of the four, gives the best feedback and often gets drowned out by the rabid crowd.

I hope this is the last run of the show and that ITV makes room for new formats and new possible music shows. Joe Mc was really badly hurt by the Christmas number one hoo-hah - although coming out was a PR dream - but the format is now tired. You know it is when Joe Pleb parrots lines from Simon Cowell about artists - "they're a bit Marmite", for example - so hopefully something else is on its way.

With a LIVE BAND! Maybe. One can only dream. For that reason, you know what I'll be watching this autumn.

Found it, saying that it weeks with out an update, strange with all the changes it having to take place to move people etc around. I dare say how will the Auditions play out this time?

Is this the last year to run?

Why would Cheryl and Danni not be allowed back - there've both had legitimate reasons.

That "Nicole Something" hasn't told anyone what to do with their catergories, where you get that idea from? The Sun?

Whether Christine B gets the job next year, it doesn't matter - theres a possibilty of him getting X Facor US plus he's had the job for a few years, time for a fresh face I think, next year - so I wouldn't feel to sorry for him!

Why is it unfair that it's now over 28's? It a decision to refresh the show a little, there not going to change it for no reason.

Well I'll make one about Strictly then!

Well Simon is the head of the show - it would be half as popular or even exsist without him!

Cheryl's there because she is a music artist and was on Popsatrs herself - so she can relate the most. She is well liked.

Louis is there because his a record manager!

Danni is there because in the last series at least she really became more popular and liked.

All the judges have been picked by Simon/producers for a reason. Why are you asking this now - Simon and Louis ahve been on the panel for 6 series!

At least this year it will be the same and next year due to X Factour US something might change, but I think we can safely say it's got another couple of series left.

The only thing I agree with you is the Live Band! Laughing

Not sure whether we should use this or the other thread?

What gives you the idea that this is the last year? It's one of ITV's highest rating/profit making programmes - there not getting red of it too soon!!

More importantly, does anybody know which non-Cowell song is said to be going for the Christmas No. 1 this year?

I think there is a campaign to get a track which is something like three and a half minutes of absolute silence to the number one spot.

The winners single will probably be of lesser significance this year, given that they are intent on releasing tracks from the XF after every weekly performance.
