Auditions commence with guest judges (June 2010)

LED Side panels & rear-projected background now part of the audition set. They also confirmed that the auditions were going to be in HD.

As far as the acts, I'd definitely put my money on a girl winning this year.


That's the same set as last year?


IIRC I think they had the LED side panels last year, but just a static background, not a rear projected background. Might be wrong though.

Alos think it was red last year wasn't it?

So pretty much the same just different colour.


Ah ok, must have been confused with BGT re the LED panels.

The red background did make an appearance, although I think blue was mainly used during the acts

The blue has been used increasingly more as the years have gone by, i dont know why they havent rebranded the whole thing blue!

Guess its just me who's insanely bored with X Factor then?

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good reality show, but all the intrigue about the judges gets *so* dull.

If it was about the contestants (as it should be) then I'd probably watch it.

But I think has some people have said before, if you get a crap year, the judges can carry the series - the drama behind the scenes with the judges has always been quite a big part of the show.
Unlike BGT, the judges are a lot more important to the series. For example the supposed "bitching" Dannii and Sharon always gavr the papers a lot of newspaper columns to fill, therefore helping to keep it popular.

I don't mind all the hoopla when it's on, I guess it's part of the show. But the months of speculation beforehand is just tedious and clearly comes from Cowell's well oiled PR machine.

I'm a big fan of the show, but there is a danger of it getting stale without some major changes this year or next.
The clever thing about The X Factor is that it has been re-invented quite a few times, the Steve Brookstein days seem like they were on a completely different show. Added with judges changing, presenters, set, format tweaks etc it still manages to stay current.

Perhaps they'll get away with HD, guest judges and adding Huq this year, but certainly next year would need to see some big format changes to keep it exciting IMO.
