Completely agree Jez - I don't think any show has benefited from them being split across two days, especially when they're recorded.
I know it's never done the series any harm, but never really liked The X Factor starting in the summer. Personally I think they should have held it back to September and done the auditions over Saturday and Sundays, which would be for the best as IMO the audition stage is dragged out way too long.

Although some consider the audition stage to be the best part of the whole show.

I agree, and surely it would build more momentum, and bring the entertainment element to a Sunday evening that they've seemed to have lost recently, saying that they have on Saturdays too. I know it's summer, but really, Foyle's War on a Saturday??

Many people I know think that - I like the whole show tho, the auditions, boot camp and live shows.
I do think it would be a good idea to have the auditions/boot camp stages over both Saturday and Sundays though.

I just find the audition stage too frustrating. Far too focused on the bad, with the only ones going through being featured are those with the sob story - plus the usual staged judges walk out.
Generally speaking The Xtra Factor provides a better edit of the audition stage, though last year I didn't really bother with the show till the boot camp stage.
I think now too the show suffers from it's own failures when they promise the world to the favourite, but we know however outstanding someone has been on the show in the past, they've pretty much disappeared afterwards.
Has Leon even had a second single or album? Not heard anything of him since Christmas.

And cue the 'O Fortuna' music to be used minute after minute of every segment of the show.
Apparently Louis and Cheryl already think a group will win the show this year - but he's been saying that every year in the hope he'll be able to find the next Westlife!

They should have taken Sharon stepping down as an opportunity to undo what they did in 2007 because I don't think many people actually liked the changes as much as was anticipated. As much as I don't like Louis, if not replacing Sharon means we'd have him from another year then so be it. Dannii and him don't get on and him & Simon are always arguing so he wouldn't have been back next year anyway.
Paddy Power also have Louis at 1/2 to step down/lose his job with Holly Willoughby on 3/1

Louis Walsh - worst mistake they ever made was un-sacking him. They should have gone back to three judges with Simon, Danni and a non-Cheryl Cole third judge.

I'd forgot how **** the audition shows were.
Firstly, the presentation of this show is seriously dated now - especially in comparison to Britain's Got Talent which just looks so much slicker. They could do with the buzzers too. Usual issue too with too much of the bad and the junkie slut sob stories.
And it really is missing Sharron Osbourne - so far Cheryl adds very little to the show, and neither does Louis.
And what's with the helicopters?
