I didn't like them having the final say at all, i'd rather have the public vote decide the losers, perhaps a second vote after the second performances? they seem to be able to count the votes quick enough during the final so why couldn't they do that during the first show and have the sing off and therefore the votes during the second?

That removes one of the core elements of the show though and a key safety net their to in theory give those who deserve it a second chance.

I think the Final Showdown works very well indeed, and actually better now than it did with three judges as there is the extra element of "deadlock" if it goes to a tie. It's also been improved this year by having a second song to "sing for survival", rather than having to repeat the song that put them there in the first place.

If anything, I think they ditch it a week early to be honest. The only week they should drop it IMO is the week before the final, so the viewers get complete control of who makes the final.

I agree. It's a lot better with the 'song for survival'. Ruth would never have survived as long as she did if she didn't get to pick her own songs in the final showdown. Purple Rain was one of, if not the performance of the series.

"No CD factory this year? Where the **** is Andy Peters!?"

Apparently Andi Peters was due to do the CD factory last year, but ITV could only do 3 OB's on the show, and last year there were 3 in the final and the OB's were in the finalists home town. Were there only 2 in the final in 2006 then????

Chris Moyles did the 'cd factory' thing in the first few series!

Yeah, only Leona and Ray were in the final for the third series.

Ah ok,,,how many were in the final for series 1 & 2?? Was there a reason for just 2 people that year??

2 in series 1 and 3 in series 2. There were only 2 in the series 3 final because they had a double elimination one week.

Just to put on the record, Cheryl's tears were totally put on and over the top.

Alexandra benefited from the Beyonce duet. Eoghan hadn't a chance being paired with Boyzone, not a patch on Beyonce. And what is this, Westlife's 18th appearance on X factor. I feel it's two years in a row of disappointing winners, a complete anti-climax. Pity.

I think overall the right person (out of the final 3) won last night. Although a lot of great acts like Laura and Austin left the competition far too soon IMO.

According to some sources, apparently Alexandra already has the Christmas Number 1 "in the bag" with it being the fastest selling single of the year.

You can't put that "on the record" unless you're Cheryl herself.

Take yourself too seriously much?

I said that because no one else mentioned it.

Nothing to do with Andi Peters spoofing the CD pressing OB in the Peter Kay show then...

Then why not use the much clearer, "In my opinion..."?

Please - don't take lessons from Brekkie, who manages to state his endless stream of opinions as if they were a matter of fact, or "record".

Its deeply offputting.
