It was pretty obvious when they put JLS through first.
Fingers crossed for Alex, though I'm not too sure on the choice of song - it's not clichéd enough at all!

I suspect eoghan expected to be in third too, he seemed very composed and accepting when they read out the results. although maybe that was because he fell asleep during dermot's preposterously bad pause.

I just don't like this years song which isn't good. Considering the track doesn't get weeks of pre-release play it needs to be instantly liked. Having said that I'm sure there will people who will go out and buy it purely because it's X Factor.

oh I will, so long as you keep your war on christmas nonsense to the daily mail. x factor's trees aren't real enough, bbc1's idents are christmassy enough, hellmans isn't christmassy enough blah blah blah.
I really don't like Dermot, I suspect its the length of the show that's just making his irritating manner of presenting and stressing each syllable very obvious. I don't remember him being like that on T4. Is he like this on his radio 2 show?
Having said that, I still prefer him to Kate Thornton.

It's an odd choice isn't it. Have they ever done an original song at the end of X Factor? There was sound of the underground for girls aloud after popstars but didn't Will Young have a cover in Pop Idol?

I think it was written especially for them (by Cindy Lauper IIRC, who I think also penned a couple for American Idol).
And thank **** for that!
