As for the talent this year - poor. The first show I'd watched in it's entirety this year since it started and there is no one there who screams winner, let alone star. Apart from the slutty druggy, who the judges for some reason seemed to think was good. Well, if it works for Amy Whinehouse I suppose...
I couldn't agree less. I think this year there's a wider variety of talent than ever before, however the girls are by far the strongest group.
I agree, the standard seems to be so much higher this year than last year. Surely a girl will win this year - there seems to be much more talented girls than boys - Rachel or Alexandra being the front runners.
The only guy I can see winning is Austin as he is cute and girls will vote for him.
It's whether the girls can get the support from the public to back them. They certainly seem to be dominating the competition - I'd imagine at least 2 of the over 25s will be female too.
I'm still not sure of the overall talent though this year - some are quite good in the context of the competition, but outside of it I don't think anyone I've seen so far has "The X Factor" at all.
As a previous poster said, this programme could be edited by a computer it's so formulaic. There's also so much time wasted with repeated "still to come" clips before and after every single ad break.
Another thing which is awful is the amount of "sob stories" - I know this isn't exactly a new thing for X Factor but people really abuse it - and the contestants are just as guilty as the editors in my opinion. They walk into the audition room and go on about how they've had a "tough time" - it's just emotional abuse. I don't wish to seem unsympathetic, but having a "tough time" shouldn't make a person more eligible to be put through to the next round than someone who hasn't, or someone who chose to keep their personal life story to themselves. Anyway I bet half the stories are made up or exaggerated.
Oh and is it me or does the number of pathetic cry-baby boys seem to have skyrocketed this year?! No doubt that's thanks to Mr "I Did It For Ma Mum" who won last year (I have actually genuinely forgotten the name of that talentless idiot - didn't it begin with L?).
Provisionally scheduled for 7.30pm according to Digiguide - England are on live before hand and kick-off at 5.15pm so the absolute earliest it could be is 7.15pm, which is still rather late compared to previous series where the first shows often began before 6pm.
Have they lost the rule book for The X Factor then, with all judges seeming to make their decisions without having to sleep on them. Hating the voice overs though - far too much of a parody of themselves now.
BTW, next weeks shows are airing from 7.15-9.15pm and 10.00-10.45pm.
Certainly a bit more promising now than it looked a few weeks ago, and I'd say the groups are probably the strongest category - though Louis will probably kill them off one by one.
No arguments really on most of the acts put through, but I think Danni made a couple of mistakes. I'd have put through Suzie over Rachel considering the public are never going to warm to her attitude, while I think the younger bloke in the over 25s is better than "dead wife guy" Daniel.
My early tip would be Laura though - so that probably ensures she'll be voted out next week.
More promising? Maybe I am watching the wrong show.
I personally think this will be the weakest year yet - we have another Steve Brookstein in the shape of Danny - did he get through cause of his singing talent or his sob story?
Then we have the boys - Austin who cries at the drop of a hat whilst Louis (who for a change this year was in Ireland with a member of Westlife) - put in a Girlband call Girlband.
Cue Leona - A Moment Like This intro ........ 'You're all so talented and I fell in love with you since day 1, but I only have 1 channel to view .....(silence) .......Either way 'I've come to a decision........ (dramatic pause) and it's good news - I am watching Brucie!' - Hit the Vocals Leona - 'Some People Wait a Lifetime for a Moment Like This!'.

Yes, Danny can't really sing but everyone else is good IMO.
Best final 12 in the show's history for me. I love Bad Lashes, Diana, Scott (dark horse methinks), Ruth... plenty of talent there.
