Anyone else absolutely loving Holly Willoughby on Xtra Factor? I think she's ace, never really noticed her before this.

The good thing is that the Xtra Factor is giving her the chance to show off her presenting credentials to people who may have seen her on Dancing on Ice, but not doing MoM, Saturday Showdown and Streetmate. I do like the way that she presents, mainly in a cute flirty way rather than an irritating one.

I suppose we'll see more of her when the programmes go live. I do hope that they create a part of the Xtra Factor where Holly can talk to Dermot rather than a quick five seconds at the start of the show whilst they're on stage. That's the only problem with Dermot being the host of the X Factor, the fact that he is great at live presenting and adlibbing, and a perfect host for a spin off show like he did with Little Brother, when presenting The X Factor you just don't see it that much.

I've always thought Holly Willoughby was fantastic. She did the ITV2 show for the Grease thing last year and was outstanding on that.

Dermot should probably be getting worried - his two year contract is up and I doubt Simon would think twice about ditching him and bringing in Holly to the main show instead.

Hmmm - not much discussion on this so far. Opinions? I am really liking Cheryl (not just because she is eye candy)! To be honest, think Sharon was getting a bit boring - and last year I think she lost it completley - the whole Danni feud cause a lot of damage to her image in my opinion. How many weeks of auditions left? any ideas?

Another 2 I think.

And yes really loving Cheryl on the panel this year.

Things slightly different for boot camp then, they appear to have a studio set up with the proper X Factor desk and a big neon X on the stage this year at the O2 Arena.

As opposed to the usual theatre / stately home set up they have.

Very American Idol.

(I don't watch AI but I imagine they go all out for things like boot camp or whatever their equivalent is).

you know what - the more I see of holly on the xtra factor, the more I like here. Think she was a great choice and even though I love Fearn, Holly is actually better IMO.

The predictability factor (if you'll pardon the pun) is getting ridiculous this year. You can just about predict the camera angles, the script Dermot's going to read ("The atmosphere is tense", "...but one person hoping to make it is...", "Last minute nerves are finally setting in" etc etc repeated ad nauseam), the music they're going to use (this ranges from that Leona song to Westlife), and the opening sequence. CAN WE HAVE SOMETHING FRESH PLEASE?!?!?!

Was a little disgusted at the blatant use of Leona Lewis music in last nights first boot camp show. I know Simon Cowell is the Executive Producer of the programme and Leona's manager, but we have strict laws in the UK that stop this undue prominence.
If it was a product like Coke, OFCOM would be all over this like a rash. I think this is worse though, because it's subliminal advertising and Leona earns a tidy penny from the PRS.
What do others think?

Why don't you just watch the programme and enjoy it's content rather than analysing the camera angles , stop being so picky!

Wasn't a fan of the (completely original, not at all ripped off from Popstarts) boot camp format this year - it just seemed like a conveyor belt format with the same thing repeated over and over again.

Although last year merging the boot camps worked well as it was a change in the format, on the whole I think it was better when the judges did their own boot camp for each category and hence there was a bit of variety in the format then.

As for the talent this year - poor. The first show I'd watched in it's entirety this year since it started and there is no one there who screams winner, let alone star. Apart from the slutty druggy, who the judges for some reason seemed to think was good. Well, if it works for Amy Whinehouse I suppose...

I couldn't agree less. I think this year there's a wider variety of talent than ever before, however the girls are by far the strongest group. People who jump out to me:

Alexandra - the girl Louis let go in Series 2, amazing voice
Joelle - the one who asked to finish her song when stopped
Rachel - the moody one who Simon told off last night
Laura - the one with messy long hair
Austin - the guy who sang Valerie and got everyone dancing
Diana - The young blonde girl who said her influence was Damien Rice
Eoghan - guy Cheryl called 'cute' who sang Chasing Cars, you can tell the teen girls will love him

However, the groups and over 25s are very weak. How obvious then, that these two categories will be mentored by
Dannii and Louis Rolling Eyes

Because the way that the content is presented (bear in mind, this is a PRESENTATION forum) is so poor and cliche that it hinders my enjoyment of the actual content. I did watch the programme, and past the camera angles, I found it dull and unoriginal.

That is why I cannot enjoy the content.
