I'm sure Louis hasn't quit. He and Sharon kind of made up after the whole 'water' incident last Saturday...
"If there are two people in this world I would never throw water over - one is [the act] and the other is Sharon Osbourne"
Yeah...Simon was confused as well.

Well, todays update is Louis will return on Saturday but quit at the end of the series.
Simon Cowell has agreed to release him from his contract for series 3, but Sharron is still signed up for it.
Other news - today's Christmas TV Guides put the final on 17th December, with three acts in it. Shorter than last year in provisional listings, with part 1 from 6.30-8pm, and part two from 9-10pm.
Some confusion I think over when the "Christmas Number One" is - Top of the Pops info lists it as 18th Dec, but there should also be a chart on 25th Dec. Apparantly the X Factor winners single will be released on Wed 21st Dec - just four days after the final!

Pete Waterman "hates" the X Factor as he was due to be the third judge, but had to quit when his son died and was replaced by Louis.
If Sharron had quit I'd definately say bring in Mark from her team to replace her, but with Louis I don't know. As Simon said on Monday, how could they possibly find anyone bland enough to replace Louis?
Maybe the Take That manager bloke!

Ok, 2 questions.... Is there gonna be a 3rd series of the X Factor????? And, who do you think will replace Louis is there is a 3rd. Pete Waterman said he hated the X Factor, so strike him off the list. I Think it will be a male judge, though.

Yes I can definately see Nigel Martin Smith as a possible replacement for a judge.

Louis could already have his next job lined up. Apparently he will be on the judging panel of a new talent show on ITV next year (I've forgot the title) in which contestants sing down the phone.
As well as that & a 3rd series of X factor there's also 'Soapstar Superstar' ..the usual format but with the aim of creating the next soap star come pop star*.

What's she on about? Why is it the last time there is a showdown between the bottom two acts? What happens from next week onwards?
