Yep, I thought I saw some earlier. I wonder when the idents will start to be shown?
ITV1 seem to be the only channel that make programme-specific idents anymore! We all still seem to complain about them on this(and other forums) but I'm sure we will miss them when they all go with this alledged rebrand in the Autumn!

Steve Brookstein.....yeah what happened to him.
I really hope this time round they have another successful ''winner''.

When will ITV learn, that despite making relatively good viewing - the programme only ends in a "flop" ?
The last series of X Factor and Pop Idol have shown this. People just don't care about the artists afterwards. But then I'm sure ITV are happy to rake in the advertising and forget about what comes after. Though if I was Simon Cowell I wouldn't be too pleased that a series of flops have been signed to BMG.

The fatal flaw with programmes like these are that they pluck "normal" people from obscurity and make them famous. The thing is, famous singers and groups are generally not "normal" people - that is part of why they are as big as they are. There are probably several million people in the country who are excellent singers, but it is the personality that makes a true star and this is hard to spot in a situation such as X Factor, and more often than not irrelevent (how else would Steve Brookstein win last time?!). Whilst X Factor and Pop Idol make excellent viewing, it is for all the wrong reasons - in fact, the best bit is watching just how bad some of the people are.

But why does that matter to ITV as long as they get good viewing figures?!

The whole programme is about the thrill of the chase - so to speak.
The result is largely irrelevant.
It's surprising so many of the participants don't seem to realise this yet.

Well exactly - that's what I was saying in a roundabout mixed up way.
Just saying that ITV get a great deal out of it - they get some great television out of it and then someone else deals with the cleanup. Perhaps even more interesting is that you never hear anyone associate a flop from these programmes with ITV. They'll perhaps cite "these reality shows" as a breeding ground, but never ITV in particular. They do very well at disassociating themselves with an act when the show finishes (whether a success or not it seems...but looks like the latter is more common now).

Sorry, but to me the judges feuding was the highlight of last years series. Expect to see some fake friendliness between the judges then.
Mind you, knowing Sharon Osbourne....
