Yes, they made a joke of that at one point so it was obviously known that the problem was there; having said that I was watching UTV all night and they had no problems (apart from the Record of the Year programme crashing into Frank Skinner crashing into a UTV trailer fiasco).

My theory is that London overran, and since YTV is controlled by computer it just cut them off at the correct time; this happens quite often with Tyne Tees Crimestoppers where Newcastle have made it half a second too long (d'oh).

Whereas UTV is controlled by a human hand so they knew not to cross over to the ads until the right time.

The Record Of The Year itself was a mess. Maybe the fact it was produced by Andi Peters had something to do with it....

The ITV2/ITV Digital Trailer/Promo/Likely forthcoming ITC Complaint hearinghttp://web.ukonline.co.uk/tv.home/forum/emoticons/biggrin.gif
seems to be 1 second too long

'How can I be expected to use a remote, with (these)'

See SE:TV Website, the trailer is semi-cut off EVERY time!

And when Recorded announcements take place on YTV, they are occasionally Cut-On.

'orkshire its time for Emmerdale' etc!

Yes, apparently there is a very strict protocol at Leeds for the exact timing of the announcements; it seems sensible to me though just to fade the recorded announcement up a second or two early, but there you go, there must be a good reason for them doing it that way.....

Who is to blame do you reckon for these slip-ups? ITV Digital/Ant And Dec/TTTV (who produce everything as-live hence the problems), or YTV for doing everything so strictly?

Well in my opinion, its the ITV Network in London to blame for everything, never YTV!

If YTV had let the trailer run its course, they then would have cut off the start of the ITV News etc.

By the way, the same sort of thing happens with the CITV presenters as well, as specially the new ones 'Coming up next My Parents are[cut off]

Weeell, I dunno, a few seconds leeway are always built into ITV links; it's one of the reasons ITV doesn't look as sharp as some other channels (dead air etc).

It's one of those things the announcers should be able to mop up. Or at least they could keep the sound up until the very last millisecond rather than fading it with the vision.

It's nit-picking, I know.

While we're at it they should fade trailers into each other or switch directly between them, rather than fading one out then fading the next one in. Looks smoother the first way.

Just before the end of Part 2 during tonight's Millionaire quiz (as one of the YTV Announcers calls it), the programme was cut off by a breakbumper and a British Gas advert.

After the advert we returned to the programme, and it was time for a break.

Surprise surprise, the first advert was one for British Gas.

Did this happen elsewhere........?

I think exactly the same thing was on TTTV as what you saw on Yorkshire(Would make sense wouldnt it!!), I dunno, but I'll go through it anyway. Some contestant on Millionaire reached £200. Sudden cut to advert break. Did about 1 ad, then got halfway through British Gas before cutting back to millionaire to go into break properly. At starts of official break, about half of a second of some other ad, before continuing the British gas ad where it left off. Break continues as normal, only now TTTV is running about 1 minute ahead. Thus the last 3 adverts, of which I can recall there was an AOL ad, were repeated twice to catch up. Millionaire comes back on at £500 question - I demand to see the £300-er!!!!!

Indeed, but it is quite a difficult thing to do, having to go to each region.

If it was regions, a touch screen router would probably be used to switch between them, but if both presenters are in London, then it would be easier.

Well, when you think they tried to:
Run Astons, DVE's, Mattes, Set sources, Vision Mix, Run various backgrounds, talk to regions, organise and run the scoreboard, sound cue's, map graphics (even if NI did look very wrong) I think they managed to do fairly well!

In which case this was certainly a YTV cockup -- someone probably rested their elbow on a button in the transmission room!

That's the kind of error they were making all the time a couple of years ago. I swear something big is about to happen at Leeds.

I'll have to stop watching UTV at this rate...

I would just like to say at this point:

Chris Tarrant ROCKS, in a non-crush way. I think he's excellent.

And that's my FINAL answer, no 50-50 or phone a friend!
