Not that it has to do much with what's being said... but would you refer any area of the region that HTV West broadcasts to as 'the westcountry' only the time i saw HTV News the female presenter said 'the news making the headlines in the westcountry tonight'
HTV West and BBC1 West have always refered to those in the Bristol and surrounding areas as being in the West Country, so I think they probably did play the right audio. I suppose they could use it on both stations really.
Well that's nothing compared with the ITV network annos announcement tonight!
At 10pm, we have the ident and a speech with "...and Dragnet's in half an hour". Errr....wrong! There's the end of Die Hard still to come. So when it came to half ten - "Dragnet's at 11.55pm" (in what came across as a yes-I-know-I-made-a-mistake voice!)
Well that's marginally better than what ITV1 Wales gets. All they can do if the wrong announcement is run the correct announcement at the next junction, due to it all being prerecorded.
For example, before This Morning the other day, they played: "In an hour, we've got the latest lunchtime news, but first its Loose Women", and before Loose Women they played: "In an hour, we've got the latest lunchtime news, but first its Loose Women"...

Well - so have the government.
Check out the road signs the next time you head down the M5.
Bristol/Somerset: West Country
Devon/Cornwall: South West
The only reason it ever got confused is a certain TV company who decided to rename an entire region to something it has never been called before. Bloody Carlton!
BTW, one bit of interesting fact about the regional news opts on ITV. Unlike the BBC who press a button to physically opt from network, on ITV it works the other way around where network press a button to opt out the regions ... bizarre but true.

But Westcountry TV wasn't owned by Carlton when it was launched.
It would have made more sense to rename Westcountry, ITV1 South West as it is more geographically correct but hey when did Carlton every do anything that made sense.

And was it not Senior Announcer Graham Bannerman on duty last night? tut tut!
There was talk in an earlier thread that Chris Langmore had left - has he been replaced yet?
