Whoops, Michael Buerk can't tell the time - he just siad 'its twenty five to 11 - no its not, its twenty five past ten. i'm getting a little ahead of myself!!'
Yeah - a classic Buerk moment! I like the way he ended by saying 'and now at exactly 10.32, that's the Ten O'Clock News'!!
Where do they read the time from? I know on the autocues it is in as 'and the time is now ____ '. It seems to me to come from the output screen in the studio which Huw Edward often looks at...

Where abouts in the UK do you live Bail? Were you watching on normal analogue TV, digital terrestrial or satellite?! The clock announcements into the Ten in the English regions are almost all recorded, if not all. The Nations (Scotland/N Ireland/Wales) have live continuity, as does BBC One satellite England.
If it was in a nation it could be the pres announcer had left their mobile switched on? I would imagine red lights would come on when a pres mic was live, inhibiting the ringers on any BBC phones in the pres area.

Yeah, I figured they could look at the computer but they just seem to be looking where I know there is a TV monitor showing the output. Someone here from the BBC must know!!!

My analogue colleague was most amused you thought he was George.... despite the fact he has a deeper voice and sounds a bit Welsh... but still....
