Well, yeah, it was a gritty and realistic drama,

Was? IS, jason, IS. One of the main problems GH faces is it is continually spoken about by journalists and documentary makers as if the series is no longer in production. I have been approached by many journalists over the years requesting help with Grange Hill articles but they are almost always interested in only the first 12 years of the show.

It seems next year's 30th anniversary celebrations for GH will be just as biased. Lime Pictures supplied me with a list of "early years" characters and asked did I have contact details for a planned publicity blitz involving programmes such as Loose Women and This Morning. Once again, I tried to persuade them that ignoring the later years would not provide a rounded celebration of the series' life.

In 1998, during Grange Hill's 20th anniversary celebrations the producer was so pissed off with the bias toward the show's past he rang This Morning asking them to remind them Grange Hill was "still on". People can decide for themselves whether Grange Hill is as good today, but the fact is it's still being made and the journos are unhelpful in this respect.

My apologies. I had thought the programme had been cancelled. Seems not...

Ouch. He may have a valid point here, though I'm no expert on Power Rangers...

No. Was. Sure, it may still be in production, but it's not what it was. It doesn't have the big storylines that it used to a few years ago.

yeah I laughed at that when I saw it on FTN recently, they would never be allowed to do that nowadays. The age thing possibly tho.

In fairness though, even though the length of the women's head start seems ridiculous, in almost all cases it pretty much evened up by the end - maybe it wasn't unfair, it was just realistic. All that's wrong is that these days it's considered offensive to say that.

In the DVD release of Series 1 of Bottom (which was first broadcast in 1991), I was surprised to hear that Richie's insult of 'thieving gyppo' has been changed to 'thieving yobbo'.

Did it sounds badly edited in or did they dub it well?

The IS refers to it still being in production. I'm inclined to agree on your other points - blame a certain Mr Deverell...
