And 80% of statistics are inaccurate...

And 37% are just made up on the spot...

Grampian News' music is awful now. Since they moved building the theme got a bit lower in it's tone, but the graphics just don't match with it, they're too slow and nothing happens in them, apart from that fade in text effect that seems to be the generic titles for this region.]

They're also doing a Sky News effort with their North Tonight programme. As it starts you get almost the same shot as Sky have, with a voice saying, This is North Tonight with X & X

Should've said it was in The Sun, yesterday, page 2, bottom left of the page.

Sorry, but didn't Jamez have a website - long before I launched mine? It's a different James. Have you got a short memory, or were you just not here last year?

You know that I was here last year, so why are you being so vague? "Jamez" was banned, and "Digifiend" suddenly reappeared. I've got a very suspicious mind.

Banned? Jeez! You should've known that I was SpiringUnhacked, not Jamez. Care to tell me what Jamez did and when? I certainly remember him being here. Confused:

And I was specifically saying that you must have a short memory - I was trying to be a little discreet about it. Embarassed

Calendar, always, and probably will carry on doing so, thrash Look North in the ratings. When you consider the enormous amount of resources poured into the programme, you can see why (six area offices, four camera crews in Leeds alone, multiple local news agents together with a permanent news centre on Kirkstall Road, no stuffy newsroom here you know!)

The theme is catchy and titles are both colourful and informative. The presenter line up is excellent (no Christa Ackroyd, for a start) and Duncan has come on leaps and bounds - an excellent choice, comfortable with the viewers and knowledgeable.

Prehaps those of you who disagree would like to take a look at the BBC offering. It rambles for about six minutes of news, no local split (OK so Hull now has it's own programme, but surely it doesn't need 30 minutes?) and then twenty two minutes of pap. Harry Gration is a consumate professional but as for the female, she is a pain and an instant turn off. I never liked her on Calendar (bring on Marilyn Webb).

The BBC likes to think it is THE news organisation, it's not. The ITV companies at local level do it much better.

Excuse me, but it's the other way round; Look North is slaughtering Calendar in the ratings...... and with TWO full half-hour shows instead of one (eliminating the need for bitty sub-opts), it's got stacks more localised news, along with all the other things the BBC does for this area such as the BBC Buses (North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, Humberside and Lincolnshire) getting into every nook and cranny of the region, the 'Where I live' websites, the 'Voices' projects and more besides, the BBC is miles ahead of YTV! And do we include in area offices the BBC local radio stations for the area and their satellite offices around the area? Regarding the 'stuffy' newsroom, good God, I wouldn't expect them to plough loads of cash into making a large newsroom if their home in Hull is only an interim home until Queen's Gardens opens later this year! For what it is, the Hull show is a fantastic programme doing a brilliant job!!

And as far as ratings go across all regions, I believe that it is only in one region that ITV is beating the BBC; that of North East Tonight/Look North Newcastle. BBC Look East I know for a FACT is beating Anglia News!! I find your assertion that ITV does it better at a local level rather odd and at times, poorly researched and deluded.

Erm, I wouldn't have said that Look North is "slaughtering" Calendar, where are your statistics to back this up ? Calendar is disadvantaged basically by the ridiculous scheduling of the main national Evening News. All ITV regions performed much better when the national bulletin went out first at 5:40, and that's a scheduling issue that ITV need to sort out really. I wonder what happened to the rumour of an integrated ITV News/Regional News hour from 6pm ?

And as has already been said, Calendar did come out on top shortly after the relaunch. Anyway for me, the Calendar package is a much fuller rounded programme. Look North Hull is too narrow in it's remit, there is not enough news, and it forgets that the wider region exists. And when you've been receiving a wider view for years, I don't know why they expect us just not to be interested in goings on in Leeds, Bradford, Sheffield and the west of the region.

Calendar, are putting loads of effort in with the new look, the presenters work really well, we get the wider picture, with 2 opt-outs for the regions, and loads of OB's from events around the region. This makes for a much more interesting show than 2 presenters sat in a broom cupboard nearly on each others knees, showing features about how good it used to be in Hull in the 1950's because they've run out of news after 10 minutes.

And as has already been said, and you yourself have demonstrated yourself Katherine, your interest in Look North wouldn't be quite as strong if it wasn't for the presence of one man.

Hey! I like that smilie! And Square Eyes, hear hear! Katherine's biased, you're so right. And people should check the latest facts before posting.

Calendar's relaunch was kinda foiled by ITN - they used the blue and red of ITV News - which changed to yellow and a lighter blue two weeks later. Unlucky Granada!

What nonsense. I'm not even gonna explain why that's nonsense.

Eh? They surely did it to match up - the old look hadn't lasted as long as the previous one!
