OK we all remember the great identities of regional ITV (and we all wish they would return) but this thread is dedicated to the turkeys that somehow managed to get into the mix.

So roll up and list your top 3 most awful ITV regional idents that should never have been allowed on TV.

In three: Anglia Knight

Not necessarily bad, and a much stronger symbol than some of the tripe on screen today, but it looks so cheap.

In two: Carlton Central

Who ate my Cake? Was it you, Carlton?

And Bully's not-so-special prize: Channel 3 North East

The infamous C3NE ident which took an afternoon to make. Nonsense, they made it during their lunch break.

Not to mention that C3NE managed to use the same library music as Sky News 1996-1997.

Channel from about 1993. The logo is bog standard graphics, but the music Shocked

It sounds like the London Philmamonic warming up.

Truely odd.

Well it was from the 1970s. What are you thinking?? That's one of the best logos of that time.

The worst logo of all time has to be C3NE for obvious reasons.

I don't know why everyone has a go at C3NE, it might have been conjured up on the back of a fag-packet during an exotic-herb induced lunchtime, but it was better than many! Rolling Eyes

Well here are my three candidates:
First has to be GRANADA , who managed to forget until 1990 that idents can move, so we were treated to this silent false colour image for 20 years. I was so jealous of the occupants of other regions during my entire childhood! (I was mentally scarred by the experience)

(someone then discovered animation, but the best they managed was this.)

Second candidate for the "Hall of Shame" has to be BORDER TV , and the "chopsticks" static ident they employed for almost as long as GRANADA:

Third worst ident, although animated, featured a badly constructed 1950s Airfix model glued onto a turntable. Oh dear....

All images from either TV-50 or some bloke I chatted to on the Internet

No no no.

It's dated, that doesn't make it bad.

It was created in 1969 for god's sake. Look at some of the other logos of the time, and it really wasn't too bad.

It had some meaning behind it as well -- it was designed in part as a tribute to the Tyne Tees Regiment, and if you look at their coat of arms you'll see that it's the same as the first frame or so of that ident.

The only crime that ident is guilty of is being left in use for ten years -- it should have been retired around 1974, but unfortunately money was tight at TTTV at the time due to YTV's domination Mark I Evil or Very Mad

TTTV knew it as well; they rarely used it after around '76.

One of those bandwagons someone started, and everyone has jumped on since. The ident wasn't fantastic, but there's no point specifying a timeframe as it still beats a lot of things made in recent years which have taken weeks and about 50000 times the cost. It was a leap forward compared to the uninspired, unmemorable, jingleless grey thing that had preceeded it for the previous 4 years.

C3NE is hated not because of the pres package, but purely because of what it represented, namely the gutting of Tyne Tees. That had already been pretty much completed about a year before the rebrand came along anyway.

It was a good ident and they changed the animation and music from this (up until 1979):

to this (until 1988):

Here are the RealPlayer files:

TTTV - Second File

Forgot to say - images/videos from TV-Ark and/or TV-50
