Everything is attracted to the brightest star in the northern sky - which just happens to be MG Alba's logo (and subsequently BBC Alba's too).

Now see there proper response! This explains the concept, makes it clear and crips at what Myself and other my have misunderstood what the channel was going for, Which a good number will not have clicked when there looking for the footy.

Sometimes things can just be a little too subtle for the simpler minds.

This is poor response which doesn't add anything, it highlights your failure to understand concept aswell, you think it looks nice with no meaning.

This package from Channel 5 back in 2010, when they were in between the 'Warehouse' idents and 'Five Circle' idents:

OR this these ones from Watch from 2010 - 2012:

Controversial one here: I'm going to throw out the 1995 Sky Tombstones. Not the visuals, they were great and the evolution in 1996 worked well...., but the audio. Coming off the back of the strong 1993 set (Sky Symphony), they were a horrible let down.

Sky Movies, The Movie Channel, Sky News all sound like they've been performed on some cheap old Casio school keyboard.
Sky Soap is just....eugh
Sky Travel makes me want to gouge out my ears.
Sky One and Sky Sports are just about passable.

My god did they learn their lesson in 1996. A superb set, with more depth and layered sound.

and my favourite of the lot

I’m not here to provide a public service. I understood the meaning perfectly well thank you.

If you’re properly talking “of all time” I’d respectfully suggest these:

This is definitely ‘Of a time’ I suppose, but dreadful jingle, bizarre logo

I never warmed to this, but, it seems, neither did anyone else

But this for me is the winner. The destruction of a perfectly good channel concept, let alone any form of channel identity, and replaced with a crappy bacronym and Richard Scarry inspired ident that is as shoddy as the new name is

A couple of mentions of the first network ITV continuity here, but as far as I was concerned it was an absolute triumph, given it followed the final few years of Granada...

Yes, the ident is quite nice, but in every other aspect it's appalling. The animations that came with it were ditched fairly sharpish and from then on, nine times out of ten it was the unbeliveably boring static ident with the twirling hearts, accompanied by the totally anonymous jingle. Then there was the bizarre practice of fading up the ITV2 and ITV Sport logos on the ident when they were plugging those which just looked weird. Everything was faded to black so it looked even duller. And on top of that the announcers themselves had so little in the way of personality and the announcements themselves were incredibly badly written - I remember them going into Baddiel and Skinner Unplanned with "Football chat now, with Baddiel and Skinner", despite the fact the whole point of the series was that they didn't talk about football. Useless. The most half-arsed presentation I can remember.

To make matters worse, of course, it replaced the likes of Uncle Colin Weston and Charles Foster. After that, network ITV was a blessed relief. At least there was more than one ident and announcers that sounded like they knew what they were introducing.

Those idents were pitiful. But the Carlton idents were particularly impressive. Regionalised continuity was maintained and though they got rid of particularly iconic brands such as Central, compared to the rest of the ITV network the presentation was ten times better. They could even stand as idents nowadays.

You had to give them kudos for the New Year idents with the fireworks which were updated every year.

But compared to what Carlton was putting out, the presentation in the Granada owned regions was particularly terrible. Apart from LWT who saw sense and escaped, though they weren't overly amazing either.

The 2011 C5 branding was nice at first but then devolved into a tacky mess that I got fed up with just months later. It lasted waaaay too long too, became outdated extremely quickly and the (mostly) terrible BB graphics they liked to ram together with the on screen identity didn’t help.
