Has anyone noticed the huge countdown clock on the Disney Channel, promoting High School Musical 2 ?

I spotted it while channel surfing earlier. It's vile. As is most of the stuff Disney churns out, but this is worse.

I want to know why our children have to be patronised in this way - songs from the films and trailers are played at every bloomin' junction anyway, and there've been endless news items. It seems that the publicity flogging started around July time.

I know, it's truely awful. What is it at the moment with Disney UK using awful DOG's and IPP.

Disney Channel (UK) - is SHAMEFUL . Ever since the cutbacks to Studio Disney and other programmes it's gone downhill, presentation wise and graphics wise. They don't even do that on that on it's US channel. And also Disney Channel (UK) has stopped playing idents, yet their sister worldwide channels still do.

Are their target audience really bothered by IPP and DOGs?

I have no idea, as I fall outside their target audience (which appears to be flatulent schoolchildren aged 5 to Cool.

But either way, it can cause screen burn and is patronising, and is not likely to encourage anyone to watch it (unless they're flatulent schoolchildren aged 5 to 8 - DOH!)

What?! You really have no idea what you're saying do you? You're now my personal Tumble Tower (as in you annoy me to that degree, not that I own you) because of this... thing you dare call English prose!

So an IPP annoys you, big deal! Look, you're not the target audience (apparently aged 5 to 8 with wind problems so maybe you are) so it shouldn't concern you eitherway. Move on and find something new to bug the living daylights out of you.

It's target audience is more 8-14 (although it seems to be attracting quite a lot of older teens as well for some shows). And yes, it does bother the target audience, my 10 year old sister spent most of last night trying to figure out how to get rid of it, until I told her it's like the DC logo and therefore she couldn't. Unfortunately, the problem with DCUK at the moment is they have the same "target audience don't care" attitude. The main problem with this IPP is it goes over the top of names tags and so on.

If they don't care/don't notice it, then what on earth is the point in having it!?

Talking of DOGs. Looks like ITV1's DOG man is in full force tonight. Including a display of the CD:UK DOG during the titles to Emmerdale...oops.

Slightly OT, but High School Musical 2 has been so heavy promoted that I thought it had already come out sometime at the beginning of the school summer holidays - it's almost as bad as Christmas Laughing.

That IPP is ridiculous though - is it animated at all?

Only the digits on the countdown changing every second, it's static apart from that, fading out for the animated Up Next/On Now IPP and ECP.
