Personally, I prefered these titles,

Around 5 seconds into that clip and on the side of the racing car it looks mysteriously like the current ITV Sport logo. Or is it just me?

No it's not just you! A psychic title sequence perhaps? Laughing

It does, actually (although I'm sure somebody will be along later to say it's the wrong font or something so can't possibly be anything like the same). Good spot! Smile

I think it'd be worth noting that "bizarrest" isn't a word. Surprised nobody mentioned any of the earlier Tomorrow's World titles.

I can understand the racing car and the drivers and the hawk, but what exactly do a snake, a woman looking like she's pole dancing while waving the chequered flag, a lady lying on the floor draped in nothing but a giant flag, a pistol, a snake and a roulette wheel do with Formula 1? And why exactly is David Coulthard dressed like James Bond?

Perhaps it's because he likes his fuel shaken and not stirred. Boom boom![/cringe]

EDIT: Also if you look closely at the 2007 F1 titles you will notice at when the logo starts to form and the car drives past in the distance, the car has the same livery as the car the Champions driving. If you see what i mean.

Have a look: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mp8ZMxy7W24

(Eg if Kimi Riakkonen won the champoionship, the '08 titles would have the car driving past in a ferrari livery)

I always thought the titles were designed to make the sport look glamerous and fashionable and appeal to middle aged men. I'm prety sure the F1 car and the women in the titles appeal! Smile I like the titles and the music which is by Moby. There are a few odd ends though like the snake as you mentioned and the casion part. However as long as it's a please to watch i'm not bothered! Smile

That's the bizarrest claim on this thread.

I think the flag draped lady is meant to symbolise a Formula One car as a thing of beauty, or something!

Whilst we're on the subject of Formula One, check out the current Japanese intro!

The best thing about the Japanese F1 titles is that, at 4 seconds in, look to the left of the screen, under the Union Jack. Phil Jupitus is supporting our boys! Razz

Oh my. I had to watch that about four times to believe it and I cannot stop laughing. I love the Japanese.

And I agree - that bloke four seconds in does look oddly like Phil Jupitas.

not quite bizzar titles sequences but the closing titles of some Hanna barbera cartoons in the 80s used to show a montarge of the characters as a background, say 'Godzilla' for example.

sometimes's they'd cock up and put the wong background on so you'd get the end of 'Godzilla' with the background for 'Tarzan'.
