BBC One joined BBC News 24 at about 2.10pm and ran up to 6pm.

At 6 a network clock introduced Huw Edwards without any regional headlines

BBC Two was as normal until it broke away from the TUC Conference at 3.30 to show CBBC and Neighbours until 6.

ITV1 went to ITV News after the first half of Crossroads at 2.15pm.

CITV, The People Versus and Semi-repeat of Crossroads were all apprantly moved to ITV2.
Expect Crossroads to be repeated tommorow on ITV1

At 6, The ITV News Special which had been presented by Kirsty and Dermot, changed into a more formal bulletin with Kirsty and Trevor.

Channel 4 News was on air from 3.30 to 4.30 replacing Normal programmes.

Channel 5 News was quite unexpectantly on air from 2.20 to 6pm, except at 2.45 it went back to Gloria Hunniford, but then 5 minutes later the news became very serious.

CNBC, EuroNews and Bloomberg were all showing coverage as well as the normal News Channels

'EDT' Pictures were being used on ITN News Channel and ITV1, with totally full feeds of pictures being taken, including them unexpectantly switching to interviews, and then ITV1 having to switch to more recorded pictures

Newsround today was introduced as coming from TC8, is this because of what happened today or is this where it always comes from, from what I heard here Newsround normally comes from TC7?

One of the most touching things that I have seen this afternoon (from a presentation point of view) was Kirsty Young speaking to her husband who was in NY at the time. They kept showing her on the split screen and she obviously looked distressed as his voice sounded a bit shaky however she remained very professional throughout - well done Kirsty!

Also BBC Newyddion on S4C has been extended to 6:30pm and the background behind the Presenter is of the World Trade Centre surrounded in smoke (instead of the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff). It makes you wonder where Wales Today will come from.

The DOG appeared on BBC ONE analogue, but not digital. I can't believe how people have no regard for the sanctity of life, and cpuld just kill innocent people outright. I also can't believe that the World Trade Centre has gone - I stood on top of the Twin Towers two years ago - and now its gone forever.
I hate the people who did this, and it makes you realise just how fragile life really is.

It's the sort of thing you'd see in a film - very hard to... Is that Barak on Sky?

Interestingly - Sky.com are playing out Sky News.
I was very impressed with ITN's coverage (on Channel 4 especially).
ITV1 was V. good and Channel 5 was impressive.
Sky are lucky because they can wander in and out of Fox.
CNN have been very good, and CNBC managed to put out MSNBC.

In a typical fashion I wasn't that impressed by the BBC coverage in the UK - ITN's seemed a lot better.
CNN's coverage featured an interview that'll probably go down as the interview that'll stick in most people's minds - but at the end of the day there's only a certain amount you can say, no matter how many correspondents you have here or there and I think most of the networks have done pretty well.

Firstly, this has been a dreadful sickening attack my thoughts are with all of those people affected by this tragedy.

I too have been very impressed with the ITN / ITV News coverage.  It has been first rate, Kirsty Young has been excellent and is now joined by Trevor McDonald.  I did flick over to the BBC occasionally but found myself going back to ITV1 who I found had better coverage generally.

This message should be taken as purely a viewpoint on the tv coverage. Inside, my heart goes out to all whose lives have been devastated by this tradgedy.

An update on what I wrote earlier:

The national Greek channels have been covering this non-stop - except for ET1 which joined its sister station NET after children's programmes finished, and STAR which interrupted a soap opera to break the news, finished the soap and continued with coverage since.

All stations have been taking CNN as their main source, with a good showing of BBC World (mainly on ANT1), EuroNews and Sky News (used mostly by Tempo) on all of them. ALPHA has been taking the Spanish language TVE too.

Some of the stations have even had to resort to showing Turkish coverage through lack of their own resources.

One thing that I've noted through the whole of the coverage, though, is how much visual information has been obliterated by having multiple stations' graphics superimposed on each other. CNN's huge banners seem to take up nearly all the lower third of the screen. It's ridiculous.

(8.30pm here and STAR have resumed the evening's programmes - with one hour delay. Lois and Clark first.)

People are moaning about the BBC's coverage - but their 6 o'clock bulletin just been was excellent.

Standard reports, chronology of events, diplomatic reaction, political reaction, reports from UK airport - and I think at least half a dozen separate live pieces.

First bit of 'self-check' by a broadcaster:

STAR Channel usually replaces the title music of 'Lois and Clark' with a song by the Nomads called 'Better World' (in an attempt to sell CDs).

The titles tonight are back to the regular theme music.

CNN's graphics are stupidly large - always have been. Fox News is exactly the same.
MSNBC have a very brash red aston. ITN have confused me though. They flashed up a graphic saying that a certain group had claimed responsibility for the attack... true? I'm not sure it is because I've not seen it reported anywhere else.
That's the problem will wall to wall coverage - facts get lost in the process.
I saw CNN playing out picture of Palestinians celebrating because of this. Very sad.

As long as there are humans on this planet, it's naive to expect any sort of peace.

Stomach churning to see people waving for help out of the windows of the tower, to see it collapse minutes later.
