Far too many things to list! But mainly their dodgy graphics, dull grey-looking set, and the fact that it's basically made up of recycled reports from ITV, c4 and c5 Wink

I like the idea of having ITN as a 'CNN Headline News' type channel, so I don't really object to their 30-minute format, but they really need to liven it up a bit!

Theres nothing wrong with grey. Its a very stylish colour. I love the ITN NC set.

The music is a bit naff though - in fact all news music Lambie Nairn produce is crap! Smile

Being someone who only gets to watch this on BBC WORLD, what happens during the ad breaks at around :15 and :45 past the hour? I'd expect at around half past the hour they'd do the weather and trails and other things News 24 do at that time, but during the other breaks the fact the title doesn't fade up at the end of the sting is a bit odd.

Also, just a thought, but maybe the titles would look a bit more 'right' if The World Today was in bold and a bit smaller, just like the titles to the regional news programmes.

Overall, I liked it. The opening in general is nice, and I really like those sidebars, BBC World hasn't done anything like that before. Odd to see the Singapore studio used for Asia Buisness report used in an international programme too.

And, yes, it isn't at breakfast here in Asia (12-3pm Hong Kong time) but in the week or so leading up to it, it was advertised as a breakfast programme. I agree with the person who said it should be on a few times a day, in the various different Prime times of the main parts of the world.

Incidentally, the first hour is billed as 0400 GMT BBC News 0430 GMT World Business Report on the coming up screen, even though the announcer introduces it as 'The World Today'. The next two hours really are BBC News and World Business Report (with Sport Today in the third hour), although the opening sequences are the same, including The World Today music with the usual BBC News titles underneath.

Well for us on BBC News 24 and BBC One, all they do is play the sting ident, and the presenter will say something like 'and now it's time to catch up of some news in the UK with...' and they'll cross over to the News 24 studio. The sting Ident will then get played again and they show will continue. The same will happen for the weather, just like you said.

I am however very angry that UK viewers don't get to see the advert filler, not even just for one hour a day!

Ahh.. thanks.

One other thing I forgot to mention before was that with all that talk of mistakes earlier in the thread, there was a classic when they were just settling in to the new studio last week.

The business presenter was doing an interview with someone in the studio, and his microphone wasn't working. The little mic on the desk was turned up really loud so you could hear him, as well as everyone else in the newsroom. It was actually pretty startling to discover just how noisy that place really is! Mike Embley, who was presenting, was obviously in a helpful mood - his arm slowly crept across the bottom of the screen and he turned around the microphone to point it at the guest!

Yes it was me who said it should be on at all the various prime times! I was going to e-mail BBC World about this, but I did'nt manage to find the time the other day, so i'll try and get one sent off as soon as possible.
