I think BBC World should have much more news than it currently does, so that it can whip CNN International. CNN do NOT have a full world news bulletin every hour, because they have local programming for Asia manily, and have a dodgy schedule. The World Today is a good start because it is a good all-rounder 1 hour programme.

I think they should do a The World Today on News 24 at 1300, 1800 and 2200. I would love to watch them during the day. Or if the BBC want ratings, then have them on at 1400, 1900 and 2300, so people can switch over and watch if after the BBC ONE bulletin.

I doubt very much that you'd get many peole turning over from BBC One News to BBC News 24.
When Sky launched the Nine bulletin there were suggestions that it would destroy the point of the Ten bulletin on the channel, because people would watch the Nine but not the Ten.
Sky gathered the ratings together and it turned out that each programme had a certain amount of unique viewers, essentially meaning that no-one watched the Nine bulletin and the Ten bulletin.
So basically, you wouldn't find people tuning it from BBC One because they've already watched an entire hour of news - the majority will see little point in watching another hour.
This is one of the problems of advertising News 24 after the news on BBC One. What's the point?
People have just seen an entire hour's worth of news, they aren't going to skip channels and watch another hour!

I would. BBC ONE - mainly UK news, with little sport or business. I'd certainly turn over to watch some world news. Its what News 24 is lacking - a good dose of World News.

I guess there are a few news junkies - most on here I guess.

But any opportunity to re-inforce the N24 brand and digital message is not wasted. Advertisers pay big money to get their messages on TV. Doesn't mean you are going to go buy a product as soon as you have seen an ad.

It would also link the two services and offer credibility to N24 as coming from the same stable as main bulletins.

And I guess when a big story is unfolding then some people may switch to N24 for a continuation.

BBC One News really needs a rethink.
They've created this wonderfully modern image for BBC News, but not followed it through with wonderfully modern news coverage.
The closest you get to anything modern is these ugly looking graphics they now plant next to reporters who are on location.
The presenter never moves from behind the desk, and it's just a bit dull to watch - no real excitement.

Ok, agreed... BUT!
News 24 is advertised in all the wrong ways.
An idea may be to switch over the News 24's studios at the end of the 6 and get the presenters to talk about what is coming up in the next hour - this would obviously take place whilst the weather was being put out. Wouldn't take much and it's more than likely that the presenters may say something that may be of interest to people watching the news - thereby making them turn over and watch News24.
Although like I said, not many watch news and then more news.

Don't disagree with that.  N24 should pick up viewers who have migrated from BBC1.  They attempt to time the end of the 10 with the start of Newsnight so it's not impossible.

Hopefully with TWT, N24 and BBC1, there maybe new links between the planning departments, and this sort of thing may happen.

BTW, just had the new opening and close of TWT mailed to me.  Sounds fab!

Yes It really is a good idea to get thr presenters to say whats coming up, and yes BBC World should have more news, but alas we are getting the enhanced service starting on Monday which will be giving enhanced News 'right across the board', should be interesting.

Very Happy

Yes well it would be interesting if UK viewers could see what all the fuss is about!
