Wasn't it more a case of finding him something to do?
I thought he signed a 3 year deal with the BBC, and after the barn-storming sucess of 'The Dom Joly Show' on BBC Three, he needed a show to help him fill the remaining time on the contract.
Go back to what you know best seems to be the moto of this show.
It's mainly Trigger Happy with a bigger budget and it's without Sam Cadman (the other half of Trigger Happy), but I enjoyed it, it was rather funny too, it's what Dom Joly does best, I give it to him he's tried other things, but they bombed so I give it to him.
Though he was right to stop Trigger Happy TV when he did, otherwise it would be very hard to do some of the jokes in London as he would be recoginsed, the good thing about this is that he's usually dressed up, for instance he was that old man who was 76 and it was his birthday, plus there are many foreign shots, which he didn't do in THTV.

Actually World Shut Your Mouth has been planned since the beginning of the contract - before The Dom Joly show was on air Dom talked about it in an interview saying he'd just filmed himself dressed as a giant turd for a new show called 'World Shut Your Mouth' I've been waiting for it for ages and had pretty much forgotten about it until I saw the trail last week.
Well it has to be said that tonight's episode was far funnier, at a Trigger Happy standard, as that was hard to beat. Many laugh out loud sketches such as the guy who phoned the Welsh hotel to book a room for him and his 'partner' (which was a sheep) and the geeks who were throwing abuse at the skateboarders!
Though I'm going to be sad and watch it again on BBC One NI. (Well there's nowt else on!)
Personally I prefered last week's episode. I actually thought the sketch with the sheep was quite poor, as we didn't see anyone's reaction, plus normally Dom Joly's humour is a bit cleverer than making cheap jokes about the Welsh and sheep-sh*gging.
