I'm not sure, lets have a look...

4th Oct & 11th Oct - Final 50 shows 4 & 5
18th Oct - Supposed Wildcard show?
25th Oct - 12 contestants reduced to 11
29th Nov - 7 contestants reduced to 6
13th Dec - 5 contestants reduced to 4
20th Dec - 4 contestants reduced to 3

??? I'm confused now!

I think you are right

27th Dec - 3 contestants reduced to 2
3rd Jan (or in that week) the final

Maybe the aim of the Pop Idol winner isn't to get to Christmas No.1, they certainly haven't mentioned it . If they did, perhaps they will have extra shows, maybe midweek when they start voting off ?

Or maybe one or two weeks they will vote off 2 people - they did this on Popstars the Rivals a couple of weeks in order for them to finnish in time for the Xmas Number 1.

Or maybe they will show the final mid week - on New Years Eve or something as it would be a bit stupid having the final of Pop Idol 2003 on 3rd Jan 2004!!

Well the first series started in Autumn and ran past Xmas and finished early 2002.

Maybe this is the plan this year, but as the series started earlier than expected, maybe the wildcard show, which will extend the series by 3 weeks, is to extend it into 2004.

Didn't someone also say Record of the Year is due some time before now and Xmas, so that may knock Pop Idol out for a week, which will extend the series further

IMO, it's on for WAY too many weeks as it is . . .

Kate Thornton WASNT presenting Today's edition of Pop Idol Extra over on ITV2!

I dont think its on for too many weeks - its the only think worth watching/taping on a Saturday.

At least Fame Academy isn't being milked to death in comparison with Pap Idol!

Pah! The re-runs of Knight Rider on Bravo are better than Pap Idol on a Saturday evening!

Do yourself a favour . . . get out more!

Honestly, don't you find people who tell you to "get out more" intensely annoying. So what if you are in on a Saturday night watching TV, there are 6 other nights a week to be going out. And for most people they can't be out EVERY night of the week.

What a ridiculous assumption to make, simply because somebody watches a Saturday night TV programme. And as has been mentioned there are plenty of reruns on the Sunday anyway.
