World Cup & SMG

Why are we being subjected to this in Scotland? Can STV not trail the world cup using all the teams taking part in the competition?

I wish England well with the event but as a Scot I object to this being forced upon me!

I also object to every show that speaks about England and the finals refer to the team as "us" and "our" and the "country" - IT IS NOT MY COUNTRY and it is not my team!!! All our channels serve the UK and not just England!!

And NO it is not just sour grapes.....Scotland were not good enough and I hold my hands up to that!!!

But, the news services are doing it as well, not just ITV.
And, going on about that f*cking Wayne Rooney is doing my nut in!

I'm with both of you on this too! It's really making me cheesed off, hearing about England this and England that!

I just wish they kept their trap shut on the matter - but that's going to be hard to do, especially when Cowcaddens and Queen's Cross (Grampian) are attached to the blinking network.

Well you would think that SMG would have more sense and compile a trailer for the world Cup......as I have said I am NOT anti England and do wish them well ( and would go as far as to say like them to win - IF IT NOT FOR THE ENGLISH BIAS IN THE MEDIA ) but all this we, us, our team and the country only relates to England and NOT Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland!

I am very much in total agreeance with you guys.

There are 4 countries in the UK (excluding Isle of Man and Channel Islands) - being England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland (and that's another story!! )

News organisations and Broadcasters should take this into account and realise that Welsh, Scots and Irish do want to watch the World Cup but do not want to be fed about England all the time. I'm fed up with it as well.

Just like previous WC and the last EC I am supporting the country in which I live, nowadays. NETHERLANDS - the Future's bright...the future's Dutch! (oops I mean orange)

On the case of Rooney - what a waste of a space - that could have gone to any other decent player. Its not as if Rooney is going to get a match - he won't (totally non-match fit, only be viable for semi's and final - as if England are going to reach that stage!!!!) My favourite football player at the momet, Kev Nolan of Bolton Wanderers, could easily have gone - I just hope he now chooses Eire instead of England to play for - England have had their chance to get him.

STV can't opt out as the amount of opt out time was cut a coupel of years back, meaning we have to watch have the CRAP ITV throws out!
I remember Weekend telly beening good! instead of bloody millionare! Blame ITV for this!

You are right............the UK media organisations should remember they serve the UK and not only England.

Speaking for some of my mates......they would like to see England do well but dread they do because the England based media would sicken us to death for the next 40 years!!!!

Not strictly true! There are TWO countries in the UK: England and Scotland. Wales is a principality of England, and NI is a province. The Isle of Man and the Channel Islands are not even part of the UK!

well your wrong there! look at any map and you will see that Northern ireland IS a country in its own right

Constitutionally NI is a province, not a country. Maps can be misleading!
