ITV's scheduling is pretty stange - even by their standards.

It's no secret they want to get rid of CITV - it could easily continue in it's 3.00-4.30pm and just be dropped when required.

Emmerdale at 10pm is the strangest though - you could understand it more with Corrie as it's been moved to that slot previously, but it makes little sense with Emmerdale.

This is why the soaps should be given a complete rest - or at least have episodes dropped when games take their slot - rather than move about the schedule.

But it is not required to drop Citv at all, the matches do not kick off until 5pm, with the regional news at 4.30 on the days of matches. It looks like Citv will have been axed from itv 1 all together as there is no presence on a Saturday morning from that week either.

As Ronant mentioned, some of the early games kick off at 2pm BST. Also, many of the games kick off at 3pm and 4pm. So there is some sense to it. Perhaps there is an alement of trying out something new, with just a thought about whether it would be a good idea in the future. Oh, and BB being on at 10 isn't irrelevant either, it seems to be a bit of a mission this year to stuff Big Brother.

I thought Big Brother was on at 9 not 10?

I agree that the soaps should take a break - like Seven did with Home & Away did down under in 2004 for the Olympics.

It also allows them to leave on a massive cliffhanger, the return eppy for which can be bigged up over the tournament.

ITV must be trying to beat BB in the ratings over the world cup period by putting Emmerdale to 10. So when does CLI start? Is it after the world cup and where will it go in the shedules if Emmerdale is on at 10?

Love Island isn't on until after the World Cup, ages away yet, by that time Emmerdale will be back at 7.

I believe it moves to 10pm at some point during the WC.

Love Island won't be good as without Rebecca and Abi. James and Rebecca for X factor. Hooray!

I'd expect Big Brother will move to 10pm up against England games, but otherwise it'll probably stay put. It still got 4m viewers the other night when England played ni a friendly.

Sky One are making 24 a "multi-start" event during the World Cup, available every 15 minutes (I think) from 9pm till 11pm.

I prefer Big Brother at 9.00pm so I hope its isnt moved to 10pm permanently.

Wouldn't it also make sense to put an additional 7pm showing of Emmy on ITV2? It's a bizarre move but a good idea to go for consistency.

Not a bad idea - they used to do that for Corrie didn't they when it was moved to 9.45pm on Wednesdays!
