World Cup Scheduling

Looks like ITV will be trying to be as consistent as possible during the World Cup. For example the Evening News will always be on at 7pm and Emmerdale on weekdays will be at 10pm. There won't be any CITV on weekday afternoons. So if they don't have football on in the afternoon a typical schedule will be:
3.00 Wycliffe
4.00 Film or something - Tuesday is The Railway Children
6.00 The Price Is Right
6.30 Regional News
7.00 Evening News
If ITV have a 5pm kick off the regional news will be at 4pm.

BBC1 is not changing so much - CBBC and Neighbours won't be moving to BBC2 if there's football unlike in previous years. But they will be on if there isn't football - meaning Neighbours will often only be shown once. It seems as if EastEnders won't move around much - in the first week it seems they'll have two hour long programmes. If they have a 5pm kick off the News and Regional news will be squeezed in between 7 and half 7. If they have an 8pm kick off the News will be at 10.10.

Also Channel 4 is going to have Deal or No Deal between 8 and 9.

Seems UTV have also cut down their regional news programme to 30 mins instead of an hour for the duration.

Have they nailed down EastEnders playout times yet?

The last I saw, both episodes were still in the "unplaced" list.

ITV's scheduling is pretty stange - even by their standards.

It's no secret they want to get rid of CITV - it could easily continue in it's 3.00-4.30pm and just be dropped when required.

Emmerdale at 10pm is the strangest though - you could understand it more with Corrie as it's been moved to that slot previously, but it makes little sense with Emmerdale.

This is why the soaps should be given a complete rest - or at least have episodes dropped when games take their slot - rather than move about the schedule.

Emmerdale at 10pm - consistantly is strange and weird. Now Big Brother on a couple of nights is being moved to 10pm, so Emmerdale will beat BB, probably

But it is not required to drop Citv at all, the matches do not kick off until 5pm, with the regional news at 4.30 on the days of matches. It looks like Citv will have been axed from itv 1 all together as there is no presence on a Saturday morning from that week either.

The World Cup starts next Friday and the news and Emmerdale then is on at the normal time.

Something like this would have been more suited, i think...

Friday 9th June
7.00pm - Coronation Street
7.30pm - Poldand V Equador
10.00pm - Coronation Street (This is Sunday's Ep)

Sunday 11th June
6.00pm - Local News
6.15pm - ITV News
6.30pm - Emmerdale (What would have been Fri ep/ and today ep)
7.30pm - Angola V Portugal

Monday 12th June
There is no exuse to have Emmerdale on at 10pm, take of the Price is right (6pm) and then revert back to where the sheduals normally are...
6pm - Local News, 6.30pm - Evening News, 7pm Emmerdale

I think its good that they've moved Emmerdale to 10pm everynight. One of the main problems non-football fans have with the World Cup is their programmes moving all over the place. At least now they will be able to find it.

The same goes for the ITV Evening News at 7pm

Yeah i know most of the changes i was talking about start on the following Monday.

Well they have a few which start at 2pm - but i agree that there really isn't any need to take it off. Presumably Ofcom allow them to do this for big sporting events - even if the sporting events don't clash with CITV

Well ITV obviously realise that Corrie is more important and popular than Emmerdale so have given Corrie the more peak time slot of 7pm and moved Emmerdale out of the way to a 10pm slot, which is fine by me.

Personally I dont know why they dont just drop Emmerdale on the days when there are games on ITV1. Its on for 6 episodes a week every week which is ridiculous - even Corrie, Hollyoaks and the aussie soaps arent on that much!
