In the West we had the network announcement. Which i thought was a bit odd because the West often has new regional versions - for example we had one at 6.00 today for Jane Hill presenting.

how did other regions cope with the news not being at 10.00 due to the football? did many carry the network announcement - or record a regional version without "at ten oclock" as done here in the midlands?

They're going to use all their own graphics
. . . and a revised GFX package as well, according to our insider. But I think it'll be a BBC News-like evolution rather than revolution!
Scuse my stupidity but whats meant by a GFX package?
Interesting, so will ITV follow suit or stick to the world feed?

Are the BBC going to use the aston system where they can brand their own graphics with a signal generated by the World Cup Providers, they did that last time IIRC!

I was spending a bit of time today on the HBS website. Great to see a commentary point seating plan for the opening game on there, and where all the OB/Support vans are going to be parked in the compound.
One question - for ITV's first game covering England vs Sweden, according to the plans they are planning to take 7 vehicles to the game. Well, one is the Scanner (presum. from 021) to take the 'local' camera angles to mix from the world feed, and other in going to be the support van - which the set arrives in - but what are the other 5 going to be doing?

I guess as normal British Eurosport will be taking the unilateral feed, and doing the commentary 'off tube' from Paris
NG
Wouldn't they take the multi-lateral feed for that?
A unilateral feed is for a specific broadcaster (i.e. a BBC Uni or an ITV Uni) - a multi is the host broadcast feed taken by anybody who isn't there to add their own content...

Most OB trucks will have a support vehicle with them - to carry the cable, camera mountings, ancillary equipment, and sometimes the cameras and lenses.
For a high profile OB you might also take your own generator to guarantee power - and you might even take two if you are using one as main and want a reserve. I would imagine the Host Broadcaster will have their own generators, but probably wouldn't grant access.
There might also be a secondary VT van for editing I guess.
