LOL, ok it isn't phantom, it's like music been playing out to slow motion replys, now it's hard to explain but it has been there on every WC match played, of course it hasn't been heard by UK viewers, so this question really is to the people who work behind the scenes!

I thought it was Go West by the Village People / Pet Shop Boys, otherwise know as One-Nil to the Arsenal. Am I getting mixed up?

no no lyrics, just a constant loop over the same music over and over.

I know there's no lyrics, but I thought it was that tune

Hang on , you bu ggers aren't going to let this thread fade out slowly - what do you think of the FA's intransigence in the face of the proffered help form Swansea re. the penalty taking ? Come on , you've read the articles , what do you think ? Truth or not ? Razz

So who are BBC / ITV going to have in their Final line-ups ?

BBC : Lineker, Hansen, Shearer, Wright (?), Motson / Lawrenson

ITV : Rider, Venables, Allardyce, Townsend (?), Tyldsley / Pleat ?

Is Pleat ITV's senior co-commentator now ? And does Gabby Logan get a role ?

With all the fuss about how the Celtic nations delight in seeing Ingerland lose here is a story of English FA aloofness to really make us laugh - Wales try to help and get ignored. You deserve all you got. See these links for full story

Ian Wright won't figure surely - he only cares about Engerland, nuttin else matters innit, not to me like. Martin O'Neill will surely be there. Unfortunately you're probably right about Shearer, although they might use Leo. Desailly somewhere in the stand with Ray Stubbs or Adrian Chiles I would think.

For ITV it will be Rider plus Venable and I'd guess Gullit and/or Townsend. Tyldesley with Pleat in the box. Not sure about Gabby - maybe she could come on at half time in a slinky dress carrying the score? She might figure somewhere I suppose - Jim Rosenthal will be back in Blighty for the boxing.

Incidentally, the BBC is getting the most incredible amount of stick over on its World Cup blog, under one of the items by the MOTD editor. Mostly in response to their England-Portugal and Portugal-France coverage.

Can't remember them having this bad a review at a WC for, well, ever in my lifetime.

I only saw the last few minutes of Portugal v France but I thought their attitude towards Portugal was appalling!

We are all fully aware of how Portugal play - but some of the comments from John Motson (who really should be retired) and Mark Lawrenson were not what we expect from a broadcaster which prides itself on it's impartiality! (if that's a word!)

I wonder how many minutes into the final we'll have the old "England would have won it if..." comments!

The BBC studio team have been awful too - they just don't seem that bothered at all about the viewers!

P.S. The "Currently Too Busy" pages are coming up far too often on TV Forum nowadays!
