Mark Thompson, Director General of the BBC! Thought you'd know that with a name like yours.
And that's "who's Mark" not "whose Mark", it being a contraction of "who is" rather than a personal pronoun. Unless you were enquiring about who Mark belonged to, in which case "whose" would be correct. I'm guessing you meant "who is", but it does show the importance of getting it right.
And before anybody tells me I'm a pedant, I make no apologies - it's the zero tolerance approach to punctuation.
After watching tonight's France- Portugal game on the BBC, I turned over to ESPN Classic Sport to watch the 1977 FA Cup Final between Liverpool and Man Utd.
Both games had John Motson as their commentator. I'm sorry to have to say that the quality ofhis commentaries has declined sharply over the years, I found him unbearable on tonight's game, as I have done throughout this world cup, and, indeed, for several years now. On the other hand, his commentary of the 1977 game was superb and really added something to the atmosphere.
It's a sad refelction of the way things have gone for him. He's become a parody of himself and become incredibly irritating. I hope he retires before it tarnishes his reputation forever.
With all the fuss about how the Celtic nations delight in seeing Ingerland lose here is a story of English FA aloofness to really make us laugh - Wales try to help and get ignored. You deserve all you got. See these links for full story
It's strange really, but there seems to be some phantom music which appears two minutes after the game ends, it even appeared on the BBC's semi final coverage last night, but the BBC turned it down really quickly!
Does anyone know what this phantom music related too?
