I wonder what ITV would have had for their closing package music? Or would they not bother with making one and simply cut to more pundits commenting on the match or adverts?

Well, they played (a little bit of) 'Hurt' by Johnny Cash at the end of the Brazil v France match.

ITV are showing the Germany v Italy semi-final on Tuesday, with the Beeb left with Portugal v France on Wednesday. They could both be equally as good matches, so the Beeb probably haven't lost out too much.

Everyone's depressed. I suppose because its been a nice hot sunny day doesn't help. Tempers flaring etc. Oh well.

England lost - life goes on, but boy do I hate that Ronaldo child! Mad

I don't support England, simple a that.
It's called RIVALRY!!!

That is your right Garry and you are as entitled to express that here as disappointed England fans.

Oh dear everyone's in a bad mood. Probably a good idea to rest until tomorrow.

But interesting that Five Live immediately agreed with the Rooney sending off on the basis that he's stamped on some guy's tackle, while Alan Shearer reckons Rooney should give Ronaldo a thump. Wright and Shearer really are great role models for the young chavs of today!

I really don't know why the BBC continue to use Ian Wright as a pundit. You might as well just put a member of the public in the studio and you'd get more intelligent comment

Erm, no it's not... you keep changing your support to a team that is playing against england out of spite... Funny how we all support Andrew Murray at Wimbledon though... and he's scottish... why can't you do the same for us in football?!

Andy Murray is playing for Britain, not Scotland.
England are playing for England.
There's a difference.
And, I don't care if you support Andy or not. You can support who ever you like, and I'm sure not all of 'you' are supporting him anyway.

You will find that Murry said him self that he's playing for Scotland and refuses to be branded with Brits. Rolling Eyes However coverage keeps reffering him to Andy Murry, Britain, but ah well.

This is ITV under Shaps so I'd have to say it'll either be adverts or Brian Dowling in a "mansion".

How pathetic, somehow managing to work in a slagging off ITV session into a match that had nothing to do with ITV Rolling Eyes

To be honest, it's no more pathetic than your staunch defence of ANYTHING done by ITV.

Quite how you managed to bring a positive out of celebrity love island in the other thread I'll never know.

But why arnt you indifferent to either side? Like if it was Saudi Arabia v Ukraine? Why do you have to go down the hoping England lose route?

It's something the English will never get why so many Scots and Welsh don't want them to win - but a good place to start is with John Motson!

Perhaps if over the years the BRITISH media had treated England's games in a neutral fashion, people wouldn't care so much!

For me - I get sick of being force fed all the pro-England hype in the lead up, I can't help but not be upset when they go out!

After all, everyone knows deep down at some point they will go out on penalties!

It's also the lack of respect the media show for the tournament as a whole - England are not bigger than the World Cup, and the media not only show little respect for the small sides in the tournament, but also for the serious contenders of the tournament!

And in truth the media didn't expect them to get past today - the way it's been covered in the build up it's as if they had made the final!

I just don't understand why it's only really football treated in this fashion. It's never an issue in Rugby, and even in cricket the team is always referred to as "England", not "Us".

Andrew,

Let's be absolutely clear here - I am not at all absorbed with any 'one viewpoint' towards ITV. I used to think ITV was a fabulous channel a few years ago, but since Shaps and his cronies have come along I've been thoroughly disappointed in their output. Please do point out how many of these 'viewpoints' against ITV I have posted on TV Forum because if I'm not mistaken they have only ever been said, in jest, once or twice and I certainly don't think it's turning into any long-running theme. When they have been said, they have been in topics relating to the pure stupidity of the current bosses in threads such as those discussing Saturday Showdown & Citv. In this case, I think it was a valid passing comment as it really wouldn't have surprised me for ITV to go as quick as possible to their adverts and have Brian Dowling on standby with his puzzles. That is ITV of now Andrew - now I don't have the time or put in the effort to try and find out if you love that network as people here accuse you of, but if you really do care that much I should think you'll agree Shaps has turned it into carcrash TV - and I'm quite concerned we may be nearing the end of the biggest commercial broadcaster because of him.

You have to remember that the majority of Great Britain is England and therefore you can't expect the media to produce neutral coverage just for what is the minority

I wonder if the BBC should have broadcast the international feed from the host broadcaster on BBC1 in the nations and let the nations cobble up some studio presentation of their own so BBC1 England could have been as english as they liked

This is a World Cup thread, your rant is off topic.

Any news on who's showing the third place play off next Saturday ? It still says TBC on the BBC website.
