I hope no-one here was planning to watch the game on the big screen in Birmingham today...

It's just blown over and smashed into thousands of pieces.

Oops.

ITV are doing something interesting on Sunday.

If, hypothetically, ITV1 shows the 4pm kick-off on Sunday, the Canadian Grand Prix (which doesnt actually start until 6pm) will be shunted onto ITV2, with ITV1 only showing highlights, and not until 1.00am.

I presume ITV are edging their bets that England will beat Sweden tonight, thus allowing the BBC to show the 4pm Sunday match.

That's typical of the BBC that is, they can't do anything right!

They're going to put a temporary screen up in its place.

I don't think it fell on the LCDs though. Well, hopefully not.

It's not the Beeb's AFAIK.

It's the T Mobile one at the fanpark.

The Beeb Victoria Square screen is not allowed to show the England matches 'for safety reasons', bearing in mind, supporters went mad in the City Centre after Euro 2004, but some cynics believe some city bigwigs are after making a fast buck alledgely!

Believe what you want.

The commentator on ITV1 said that Joe Cole's goal was the 1999th World Cup goal

Then on the highlights from the Paraquay match the ITV4 commentator said that the Paraquay goal was the 2000th... despite them scoring before England

Now apparently the Swedish goal was the 2000th

Confused

Haha... very entertaining on Sky News - when Sweden's second goal went in they were in the middle of the weather and you could hear the ITV commentary faintly in the background and people in the newsroom shouting "NOO!"

The goal in the Paraguay game was disallowed - it would have been the 2000th, that's what Peter Drury said, cloth ears!

John Motson and Mark Lawrenson for the Beeb, overheard John say how good England's performance, then gave out the formation out again back to base Laughing

As I posted many pages earlier on this thread - once again I enjoyed the adverts in tonight's England game.

I was watching in the pub and two adverts certainly silenced a lot of people and got them talking about them.

The two I remember were the Honda ad and also the new Lynx advert.

I haven't seen adverts of this calibre on ITV for a while - if an advert is well made it really can add to an event. On ITV1 tonight all the World Cup adverts really built-up the event and made it feel so much more special.

Were these ads shown in ALL regions?

A peak audience of nearly 21 million people saw Sweden snatch a last-gasp equaliser against England, ITV's biggest football audience since 1998.

The 2-2 draw averaged 18.8 million on ITV1 last night, peaking at the end of the match with 20.9 million.
