Some people on here are complaining about the size of the scorebar from a presentational point of view, but, from a football fan's view, the smaller, the better. No fan wants intrusive graphics, we want as much of the picture free as possible, and this is what the BBC has done, and successfully I believe. The score and clock can be seen with ease and it is for this reason that, IMHO, the BBC has done a fantastic job.

not sure what being a football fan has to do with it. I'm one, and I find the scorebar rather on the small side as do the people I am watching the games with.

that said, as a whole, BBC's graphics this year are pretty flawless

My point about that is that many are simply giving views about the state of presentation, without taking a general fan's view into account who wants to see as much of the picture as possible, hence a smaller scorebar by the BBC.

Here you can compare the size of the score captions side by side

Oh the irony on ITV News now!

They have Lucy Owen as the main presenter and Geraint Vincent on the report about the England 'victory'

How ironic that two Welsh people are presenting the news about England's first win!

Lucy seems to suit that studio really well!

two british people presenting on a british channel? no irony there. is it ironic when two london born and bred presenters report on a news story in cumbria? no. do you get all hot and bothered when two english presenters report on a welsh story? if you do then i suggest you are rather insecure about your nationality.

Yes its a British channel, but the team in the World Cup is England not Britain so Wales isnt part of it.

Im a football fan but there is no way I can even consider supporting England in the World Cup as im Welsh.

As for the presentation side of things I think ITV's is better.

I'm like you, every time Huw Edwards comes on screen spouting off about something English I get incandescant with rage. Don't even get me started on Kirsty Wark.

Just as a minor point - what exactly is the logic in UKTV G2 showing the exact same games as BBC/ITV? I could almost see the point in Eurosport showing pan-European coverage, but this channel showing the exact same thing seems pointless. It may come in handy for when two games are being shown at once, but that's rare.

They're only showing the BBC games, but I think their objective for the tournament is that they're trying to be different, taking a bit of a relaxed role to the whole thing, as they have one football pundit and usually a celebrity who has an intrest in the game, yesterday for the England game they appropriately had Ricky Tomlinson giving his views of the game.

I can't see the ratings being great for G2, but it's a good idea and very different than Lineker and Motson at the BBC. Plus I think Ron Atkinson is providing commentary for G2, though correct me if I'm wrong.

Atkinson did the England commentary yesterday along with someone else(name escapes me).

What feed were they using?

Where is G2's 'live' studio based?

Admittedly I fell asleep at half time, but that was down to the 2 cans of Woodpecker I had & the warm weather, rather than the actual game!

Peter Brackley doing the voiceover on the ITV competition. Thought he was working for someone else this year. Odd if it's only a voiceover he's doing.

Well he is doing some ITV commentaries infact - i didnt think he was however he's down to do two massive games which are live on ITV2 - Costa Rica V Poland and Angola v iran. Presumably he's doing a few others which ITV haven't got live.

Makes sense, things get very busy with the last games of the group stage - four games a day for four days running.

1. The commentator was Andy Burton
2. They are probably using the Extended Stadium Feed. BBC are using the Clean Stadium Feed.

Actually credit to ITV for referring to the England Football team as "them" throughout their trailer for Thursday's game.

Re: scorebars - I don't really understand why they've gone back to the linear abbreviated format in the last couple of years.

Although a bit bigger, over recent years many had switched to a more stacked format with full (or fuller) team names - handy for the World Cup when alot of people won't get the abbreviations!

And interactively, the BBC have shown some common sense and put the highlights service on Freeview rather than the pointless "Your Shout".

I didn't realise Independent Radio News had made it through to the final 32 this time around.

Simon Cadman in goal!?
