I surprisingly like this year's ITV World Cup Ident. It's sleek, clear and it outlines all the major bits and bobs of the World Cup.
The BBC's one is good, but I have to differ with the choice of the music. It may just have to take me a while to like it.
However it's nice to see the channel using it's resources on getting players such as Gerrard, Henry and Ronaldinho to feature in it's ident.

As there's been talk about adverts here, I might as well say I do quite like the current Kit Kat ad doing the rounds; I grinned when I first saw it.

I agree about Ian Wright, he's getting more boorish by the minute! David Pleat annoys me, he's currently prattling on about technology in the Ivory Coast game, althouh replays weren't conclusive. I really like the Budweiser adverts though, I find them quite amusing.
Who on earth are EDF Energy? Do they even sell stuff in the UK?

Isn't there some sort of jinx on England when ITV show their games though? Lest we forget: "There's only one team going to win this game now..."
Just adds to my list of reasons why England can win this. The manager's crap, there are major injuries to crucial players - by the weird logic of football, when you're least expected to win, isn't that when it happens?
Unless you're a Spurs fan. Obviously.

No, they're spending a huge amount of money to advertise to a country in which they don't sell any products! Of course they sell stuff in the UK - they sell electricity and gas (energy) hence the "where do they get their energy from". The name edf stands for "electricite de france" with added accents of course.

I think EDF own Powergen now.
Also, I said this yesterday but on Freeview the BBC's interactive service really is piss-poor.
Two streams were on offer today, the first being a simulcast of the BBC1 stream with two audio options - John Motson or Kids Commentary. (Usually it's Analysis and R5 Live)
It's always annoyed me they can't put the audio options onto the BBC1 feed and use the stream for something else.
The second stream was the even more pointless "Your Shout", with a reduced picture to allow for incoming texts. As I said yesterday the updated rolling highlights service is a much better service - and the only possible reason it's been replaced is because Your Shout can make the BBC a bit of money!

I thought there was going to be an option for no commentary for all England games - certainly the Scottish edition of The Sun made a big play of that.
I really wish they'd put highlights of the England game on the stream rather than the whole game - I missed it earlier but I can't be arsed watching the whole thing.

I knew they'd start that the minute it happened. As you say, the replays weren't conclusive, so they'd have been absolutely useless.
Also, they're not foolproof. In the Stanley Cup (ice hockey) a year back a perfectly good goal wasn't given because it wasn't called back for review by the officials. That could easily happen, unless you're going to stop the game for every dodgy decision.
Plus, who wants football without dodgy decisions anyway?
