Any chance of some caps, whiteside2005? I'm nowhere near the border and naturally RTE2 is enscripted here in the North.
Who is presenting the RTE coverage, and I presume its being anchored from Dublin?
Sorry don't have a clue just flicked on and off i'll see if i can find out for you and keep you updated. sorry cant provide caps

I agree about the clock/score, it is too small, I wonder why, especially as the other graphics seem to be bigger than usual!
Also the swoosh BBC Sport bit at the start will be missed, especially as the graphics still come in as before but with no sound
And talking about the official Fifa World Cup logo, remember 4 years ago when ITV's titles featured an abstract version of it which was quickly replaced by the standard version early in the competition
One thing I liked about Euro 2004 was the usage of an official sting when they went over to the grounds at the start. I presume FIFA are less corporate than UEFA like to be with this sort of thing

I loved that official sting as well, the music during it was amazing! Wish I could track it down.
And spot on about the clock, I have a fairly small TV, but I can't really make it out.

the titles going out to the break on RTE 2 there looked a bit like BBC Sports with the FIFA WORLD CUP 2006 in a bar and below a smaller bar saying RTE Sport, BBC Sport style, hope you can understand that!
Going off topic quite a bit but does anyone know who do get footage of a vhs on a pc because ive got the 2002 final and want to upload this years coverage of the wc from rte

Agree, can't read the clock easily on BBC (even with a 32" set). UKTV scoreboard is a bit too big though - wonder if that's an HBS graphic or just made to look like it. ITV are using the HBS graphics, so be interesting to see if they have their scoreboard is the same as UKTV.

It looks like DIN Engschrift Std, at least the big heading text used on the opening titles and for the team news slides/latest score graphics. The other graphics might be still using Zurich, I am not sure yet.

Anybody care to enlighten me as to what the new BBC Sport font is?

Cheers whiteside2005 - dont have NTL im afraid. Not surprised RTE are following BBC Sport's lead in GFX - they've been doing it for years!
On second or third listening, I'm not so sure the swoosh has gone after all! Its certainly not as dominant, but there is definitely a sound effect when the logo is animating. Perhaps CharlieMouse can enlighten us . . .

What a great game this is. Four weeks of this'll be a brilliant start to the summer.
On the subject of graphics, I'm very impressed. The gradient look beats the last one by far. Hopefully these will be on all non-World Cup programmes. I'm glad HD has come along because it brings great graphics to all platforms. I wonder what ITV will come up with...
The quality is great (on SD) but I'm going to miss the swoosh. Hopefully they'll bring it back.
