Notice Radio Times have got 2 covers this week, one with the BBC presenters on the front and one with ITV's.

The image of Steve Rider next to a football, looks strange. Does he actually know his stuff? I suppose we'll find out. Has he ever covered football before?

Go look at page 5.

I don't rate ITV's theme music for the World Cup if it is going to be the same version that was used to open the preview programme at 11pm tonight. The BBC's orchestral offering seems much more in touch.

Me neither. The new graphics are quite neat though - it looks like they are going to used across ITV Sport.

Seem to remember him presenting Grandstand/Final Score in the 90s.

He did Football Focus as part of Grandstand for many years. It'll take time to get used to Steve as a football presenter, but he is THE most versatile sports presenter around IMHO so he'll fit in well.

IMO the ITV theme isnt bad - provides a good contrast with the BBC, just like 98 when the Beeb used 'Pavane' and ITV used 'Rendez-Vous'. And I suppose 'Heroes' is pretty appropriate. Dont like the titles or studio though. I presume its in Munich?

If you want to see the new look graphics for BBC Sport - watch the World Cup Daily - www.bbc.co.uk/worldcup Not much change, evolution rather than revoloution - but nice.

Or possibly London? They had full versions of the papers at the end, which is more likely in London than Munich. But it could be Munich.

looked like a re-dressed version of their Champions League set to me, so I would say London

The new BBC graphics look pretty slick, should be good to watch them in action tomorrow properly

Would make more sense - not much point in sending Steve to Munich when he has to come back to do the GP at the weekend?

Little bird tells me ITV will have a studio on-location in Germany - and from different cities.

A different little bird tells me the BBC will have a studio in a single German location.

Both broadcasters are providing HD coverage of their matches to people on the London HD trial and Telewest HD, with the BBC also broadcasting HD on satellite (so that Sky HD viewers - and others with the correct receivers can watch)
