Does anybody know if it's possible to record channels in the Add Channels list on Sky? For some reason, I've got high hopes and I fancy checking this wknd@stv out. Just a bugger I'm in Granada.

From this actual website:

What are the DSAT frequencies and settings for the ITV regions?
Your local ITV region is available on ch.103 however you are able to view other regions and subregions via the 'Other Channels' facility.

Press 'Services' > 'System Setup' > 'Add Channels' and enter the following details:

EG:::: Frequency: 10.832, Polarisation: H, Symbol Rate: 22.0, FEC: 5/6.

Frequency: 10.906 and Polarisation: V for Channel Islands, 3 STV regions and UTV.

Video recorder?

Or is that too quaint, these days?

Sky+ won't record manually added channels, if that's what you're asking.

Thankfully, I can pick it up on Tiscali + so I can record it that way.

Having said that, I've come across some details which puts me off it. A list of shows have popped up on Wikipedia (yes, rubbish source) and not a single show rings a bell - no How 2, Fun House or Art Attack. More annoyingly, the shows are presented by two pairs of 17 year olds. Okay, I'm 17 myself, but I've never liked that "by kids for kids" concept.

That would be me that created the Wiki article - all the details are at www.stv.tv/wknd - I'm not too sure on the content myself, but we will have to wait and see it on screen.

Did anyone tune in to see what this was all about, and if so, what was the outcome?

Was it live? Were the presenters decent? Did they do simple links, or were there sketches and competitions involved?

I suppose in a way it's good that they have got some presenters when CITV has recorded voiceovers, I know that the majority of CITV is the channel, but even something cheap would be a bonus.

As for the programmes listed on the website, very interesting. I remember Get Wet from 1997/98, and Captain Zed from the early 90's plus some other shows. A very random mix. Are they shows that SMG had some connection in producing, or were they cheap rights for the programmes? And as from the looks of it all of the programmes will be in 4:3, how are they handling the switch, or are they just having 4:3 links?

EDIT: Interestingly you can see the whole programme split into chunks online... starting here! It looks as if they've cut the programmes to make them 16:9, Captain Zed is bring back a lot of memories!

I switched off once they brought up the schedule, which was about 6 seconds in after the titles. Okay, some of the shows may bring back memories for some, but none of it did anything for me. Get Wet rings a bell, and that was it. From what I saw, the presenters were rubbish. The auditions must've been p*ss easy as they were incredibly flat and wooden; it seemed like a Blue Peter viewer won a chance to do a continuity link. (IIRC that's been done before, and it too was awful)

In all fairness, they're trying, and they're making a way bigger effort than ITV. I did treat myself by putting on a recording of SM:TV I had, though. Cool

Blimey, do they have to have such specific timess on that menu? 10:57, 11:24?!

The BBC ought to take a leaf out of that particular book, and list the One Show as 18:58.

Had a quick look at it online, the title sequence is a bit cringeworthy, and the presenters maybe lack confidence but that's understandable, but it's many times better than what ITV plc are (not) doing.

So there using there BACK catalgue of cartoons and other show to fill it up. this has to be a good move.
It can be a lot better but It only got another 11 weeks to run so maybe if there tweak it up a bit it could well work.

other cartoons in the vaults of STV

* Walter melon
* Ruper
* Hurricanes
* Birdz
* Flying rhino jr high

So these may apper latter sometime.

but overall it still better than what ITV are doing
