I wish they had put the same effort into this that they put into CBeebies Singalong week - my little brother found the lack of a boucing ball quite hard.

How come BBCi froze at the end of TOTP ? (I had to exit manually instead!)

When I used to watch the local news on BBCi, it used to 'drop out' during the national weather.

The only advantage over "Ceefax" subtitles was that it put whole sentences on screen at any one time. It was rather nauseous with the border effects switching in when songs were being sung and out when they had finished.

It'll be interesting to see how they cope with The Sound of Music.

I suspect someone in the controllers department went to see a Sing-a-long-a-sound-of-music show and decided to try it on air. I think it generally failed.

With proper framing however the SoM presentation could be enhanced by using the framing around the whole 1:2.20 screen ratio.without losing any of the original screen.

Do I lose 'being gay' points for:
a) admitting this is the first time I have ever seen the complete film, and
b) realising just how bad it is (particularly half the songs with dire lyrics)?

Yes. Go and listen to a Kylie/Steps CD at once, and then watch videos of the last ten Eurovision Song Contests.

Ceefax can do this. The word at a time style subtitles are where a stenographer is subtitling live
