Do I lose 'being gay' points for:
a) admitting this is the first time I have ever seen the complete film, and
b) realising just how bad it is (particularly half the songs with dire lyrics)?
Perhaps I shall regain my points by watching (and using the BBCi sing-along service) for The Sound of Music on New Year's Day

Yes. Go and listen to a Kylie/Steps CD at once, and then watch videos of the last ten Eurovision Song Contests.

I dont see the appeal of this. When you do it, the text is tiny (bigger by selecting subtitles), the picture's shrunk and their are festive symbols (holly mainly) seen on the bar. They don't provide any kareoke style to them, they are just the words, as they would appeal on subtitles, no bouncing ball or changes in colouring of words.

Have to ask - what was the point of this? For years we've done this using conventional subtitles. This is like repackaging ice for the eskimos.
Not only do you have a BBCi DOG in the corner, the words were microscopical and the text background obscured much of the picture. Whereas Ceefax/Freeview subtitles are larger, easier to read and colour-coded!
You've always been able to sing along to your favourite films. This just lessens the experience!
