Sorry if it's in the wrong forum but we haven't long had a new floor put in the front room and by the looks of it the fellas who put it in have damaged the phone line cable. Sky have now notified us that if they don't recieve any proof that the box used for multiroom is still in the place (via a phone line connection) within the next month or so, they will charge us for the packages we watch on it, meaning doubling our Sky subscription.

I was also told by someone who works at Sky that there is some sort of system to connect a Sky box wirelessly to a phone line. The only thing I had in mind was a wireless router. Would these work with Sky boxes, and if so how? All I can imagine is getting a wireless signal from a USB connection in the front of the Sky+ box but there are no USB ports on an original Sky box.

Speaking of USB ports on Sky+, what are they actually used for?

Could you not just get a replacement phone extension cable for a few quid from Argos or Homebase?

Could you not just buy a cheap phone line extension lead from Argos or the like to plug into the box?

Cheers, marksi. I could just get a basic phone extension but hiding it is a challenge because both rooms have wooden floors, and both boxes run from the same telephone connection.

Why are people so obsessed about a little wire?

Why not just tack it to the bottom of the skirting board, or just tuck it in the space under it?

You can get very fine ribbon cable which I'm sure you could hide somehow - it'd be cheaper than the wireless option...
