Winter Olympics over. Now time for the greatest disabled winter sports event in the planet, the Winter Paralympics.

As usual, Channel 4 is the solo broadcaster so we won't have complaints compaired to the Olymlpics that there is restrictions on events being shown. The Opening Ceremony is being shown live on the 9th March from 10:55am on the main channel with Rob Walker, Ade Adepitan and Sean Rose fronting the coverage.

No confirmation on the presenting front yet but always felt Ade Adepitan is the weakest of the presenters C4 signed up in 2012 and beyond. Coverage is generally overnight from just after midnight when most the snow events take place, whilst there is a breakfast round up for an hour at 8am, highlights at 6pm on weekends and 7.30pm and 11pm on weeknights. Unlike the Olympics there isn't much happening in daytime hours here with just curling and Ice Hockey matches in the morning, often at the same time.

JJ Chalmers, who I thought was C4’s best presenter in Rio, seems to have graduated to BBC Sport as he is doing Phil Jones former role on the indoor athletics today.

Well nowadays they're all freelance. JJ has done the Invictus Games for the BBC as well - possibly before he did the Paralympics actually.

I would expect Sophie Morgan and Arthur Williams to also be involved in the Paralympic coverage. Clare Balding is hosting crufts that week so won't be involved, but wasn't last time anyway (as she was at Cheltenham).

Absolutely. With Phil Jones gone now I’d hope JJ gets the trackside reporters job permanently. This afternoon’s athletics is interesting. In the absence of Steve Cram Katharine Merry is in the commentary box with Andrew Cotter. Must be the first BBC athletics events not to feature either Cram, Foster or Coleman since the 1950s!

Clare Balding will at least be near some snow for C4's coverage. In Hemel Hempstead.

According to JJ Chalmers on Instagram he is heading to Pyeongchang after the World Indoors championships this weekend.

Read that earlier and thought you were taking the piss but just to expand Clare is hosting the highlights with Jonnie Peacock from the Monday at Hemel Hemsted Snowdome. Lee McKenzie hosts the first couple of nights.

Digiguide is vague on the overnight hosts but implies Rob Walker is leading the coverage with Sean Rose.

NBC of course is probably treating it as filler. 94 hours on TV (Sochi was 50) via NBC, NBCSN and the Olympic Channel with 156 hours of streaming content via the app and website. Not much but they are improving.

Quote:
NBC Olympics’ coverage will include all six Paralympic winter sports – alpine skiing, snowboarding, sled hockey, wheelchair curling, cross-country skiing, and biathlon – spread across 10 days. The 250 hours of coverage includes 94 hours on television, which is NBC Olympics’ most ever for a Paralympic Winter Games, nearly doubling Sochi 2014 (50 hours). The 156 hours of streaming coverage will be available via NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app for desktops, mobile devices, tablets, and connected TVs. [Note: OlympicChannel.com and the Olympic Channel app will also stream the Paralympic content that is televised on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA].

Wonder if he is there for BBC Sports News (who will no doubt cover the events even though they don't have broadcast rights), or whether he is there for C4.

94 hours is about the entire event, so wouldn't knock NBC for that. Extra streaming hours will likely be more curling and sledge hockey games.

Full press release from C4 confirming Ade Adepitan, Sophie Morgan and Arthur Williams as anchors of the live overnight coverage. Interestingly produced by Whisper films this time rather than Sunset+Vine.
