BBC2 are now showing Animal Park, followed by Escape to the Country

In fact they never got round to Escape to the Country - play got underway at 2.45pm on both channels! Cool

And now it'll go off BBC2 for CBBC.

Surely nowadays they could ditch CBBC for the tournament - in fact they're showing more of it than they used to. In the past it would be cut to about an hour and a half - but now it's actually being extended with Shaun the Sheep at 5.35pm.

They might just as well have shown Neighbours, but obviously dont as its a convenient time for the BBC to take it off for a break to avoid catching up with Oz.

I did wonder if the fact that Henman was playing at 4:30 might have meant the annual "News on BBC One or BBC Two?" debate. I think with the horrible weather conditions it would have been a very bad decision to shove the news onto BBC Two as it would have completely denied Hull a programme tonight (since they can't opt out of Leeds on BBC Two at all, not even analogue).

Probably showing classic moments from previous tournaments like they always do.

It's gonna be a washout...

Neighbours would have been nice. They wouldn't have dared take it off during Wimboredon in the Scott and Charlene era.

Absolutely not! And before you spin the digital line, the BBC has a duty to provide alternatives to tennis-haters on its analogue channels. Please, end the afternoon arrangement of tennis on both channels.

I imagine you will get your wish post-DSO with the main game scheduled on BBC One (or BBC Two) and other games via BBCi, leaving BBC Two (or BBC One) free to do their own thing. So you'll just have to grin and bear it for a few more years Razz

To be fair they do for (roughly) 99.61% of the year and 89.88% of the time throughout the Wimbledon Championships.

Ah but they were over a year behind the Oz episodes back then so no chance of catching up and running out of episodes.

But this year a special exception could have been made, since the BBC will not have Neighbours next year. And anyway, would the tennis fans mind if BBC1's afternoon coverage began at 2:05pm instead of 1:40pm and ended at 5:35pm? Probably not, and it's only a loss of 50 minutes daily for the tennis fans compared to the three hours of standard BBC1 fare and NINE hours of standard BBC2 fare daily the rest of us have to miss.

They still need to take a break and when there is something to replace it with is as good a time as any.
