There was a 2Mb/s circuit for the NICAM via Genesis too, so yes 2009 would be the one.
Previously the Radio 5 feed and other seperate audios (some as multiplexed control lines and PABX extentions) were on NICAM via radio links as well.

It was the last year that I worked there for the whole tournament.

It was the last year that I worked there for the whole tournament.

Have I really been doing line-ups with you for all that time? Smile

The receiving end of the kit in CCA was never fully removed, and can be seen (complete with my writing in chinagraph pencil) on Street View.

Ah, I'm sure the old multiplex kit is unlikely to be required again, so probably wasn't needed back, and NICAM is now old hat too.
I'm assuming the VIMCAS gear had been binned some years earlier looking at the empty space above?
(It was for getting stereo clean effects back from an analogue OB - good enough for crowd effects but not great quality!)

Line ups with CAR / CCA / SCAR / ICR / Sat Ops I've been doing them for 34 years.. and still counting. Where did that time go?

Here are some photos of the rig at Wimbledon in 2009 - but not the fibre bits....

Note the last one has BBC HD channel off air monitoring on a black and white monitor.
Using old trucks for new technology......

So I read on here that Wimbledon or the BBC wanted a spidercam, but was turned down by the council? But there seems to be sweeping shots down Church Road along the length of the grounds? Has something changed?

I'll add that it's a nice shot.

There's a wirecam (point to point rather than spidercam's anywhere in 3D space) on the rig this year.

The BBC's main path out of Wimbledon is almost certainly by fibre - if they're skimping on a satellite contribution it'll be a "we hope to not have to use this but at least it'll keep us on air if we do" budgetary choice.

Yep - I think the host broadcaster court feeds are all carried over fibre to IMG at Stockley Park who handle forward distribution to at least some rights holders? I think this is a Hypermux point for EBU FINE connectivity?

The feed on 7e is the world feed from WBS. No court feeds, just the world feed and the interview feed both encrypted Sad

Probably an obvious point I should have realised years ago but presumably only the main show courts (and possibly Court 2/3) have commentary positions within the court, so is everything else effectively done off-tube within the Wimbledon media centre?

Good point though having been a few years ago, I know Court 18 has a commentary position (I was sat very close to it), so I’m sure Court 2 and 3 would.

Thanks. I guess Court 12 would too as 12/18 seem to be the treated as the main outside courts after 2/3. Obviously coverage beyond that is relatively new and even now some courts are still aired without commentary

Having visited Saturday the wire cam is in the car park on the other side of Church road. Centre plus courts 1, 2, 3, 12 and 18 have commentary boxes.

Wire cam as just shown on coverage of court 2:
