Sue would have started earlier today (on air 11:00 rather than 11:30) and there are a lot of matches to cover in the first round, so Clare stepping in at 6pm might just be for the first couple of days.

I remember Clare stepped in for Sue last year on a couple of occasions, notably the wheelchair finals she presented on court, and she steps in when Sue does presentations on Centre Court.

Quite useful to have two anchors available in the event of matches finishing at a similar time on both channels, although I have heard one of the "voices of the red button" on BBC Two today while Sue was doing her introductions on BBC One.

She's clearly being positioned as her successor now, and that's probably a wise move regardless of how superb John Inverdale is on the French Open.

John Inverdale is terrible, gets basic tennis terminology wrong all the time.

Anyway, straight from the action into Today at Wimbledon without any trailers or ident - that's the way to do it.

Looks like they have a new video screen on Henman Hill this year, it's wider and looks like it's got stats down the sides of the screen.

That's part of the rebuild of Court No1. One more year until the roof is ready.

The new screen was introduced at last year's Championships.

That screen doesn't look as wide as the one I saw on TV today, and I don't remember the stats on the sides being there last year, could be wrong thorugh.

Edit: yes, I'm right, they've doubled the width of the screen from last year

A look for an article about the new screen on Henman Hill leads to a moan from the Daily Express that they won't be showing the England game on it (why would they?). Give me strength...

World Cup/Euro tournament matches have never been shown on the big screen at Wimbledon on safety grounds and also as cheering from fans may cause a distraction to players on court.

Why would they show a match from a totally different sport on a screen that's there to show the events of that tournament anyway? People are at Wimbledon for tennis, and specifically the tennis that's happening there, not football in Russia. But then I wouldn't expect your average Express reader to think that logically.
