BBC One signposting that the Ten will be on after the tennis, and not signposting to the NC.

Right thing to do, many viewers would want to see both, not one or the other.

Anything not live can be delayed so also right to bump Our Girl even if it upsets the Daily Express.

The First Night of the Proms is a key BBC TWO fixture. Viewers on Freeview losing HD in significant areas by dropping it to BBC FOUR would have been a mistake.

Could Our Girl have gone out on Four and the 10 on the NC?

The Proms really does need the HD coverage with the lighting effects with the Five Telegrams piece.
To have pushed it to SD only for many viewers would have been a shame, so BBC Four would not have been a good choice.
To put the Ten on the News Channel and then do another programme on One (plus the regional news) after the tennis is over is the best compromise.

That's really part of having live events on a major broadcaster. I don't know why it's expected that programmes can't be moved, especially with the iPlayer and PVRs now such a major part of most people's lives.

But the Proms is the BBC's flagship classical music festival and the first night absolutely deserves its BBC Two slot. It is unacceptable for this to be moved to BBC Four (nothing to do with the Pops repeat).

I agree that the BBC are between a rock and a hard place tonight, with both the tennis and the Proms requiring live coverage across BBC One and Two, but completely disagree that the Proms should have been moved.

The BBC would have been given grief for moving the Proms for tennis and they cannot predict overruns at Wimbledon because they're extremely rare. So it's a no win situation.

Our Girl isn't remotely the same demo as the BBC Four audience so no.

Not just that, it can only go out with surround sound if it's on HD

Though those things do depend on the EPG being updated correctly - I think they're midway through some changes right now:

And already rescheduled twice this week. I doubt many fans even knew it had been rescheduled again for tonight.

I think the BBC got the rescheduling spot on tonight and worth remembering how exceptionally rare, well unprecedented, the length of the first semi-final was.

Wimbledon moving to BBC Two at 22:30... I think.

I guess Newsnight will be delayed as well.

Our Girl isn't exactly rating highly so it's not really a high priority for BBC One.
