I don't think they have the regional capabilities on BBC2, just the nations. I could be wrong though.

The alternative could be to move the Proms to BBC1, keeping the tennis on BBC2. It's going to lead to all sorts of interesting scheduling headaches at this rate. But, that's why we love Wimbledon!

BBC One has more disposal programming, Still Open All Hours is a repeat and Our Girl can be pushed back a week if need be. Ratings wise, they'll probably put Wimbledon on One and Proms on Two

It's already the longest ever mens semi final at Wimbledon on record!

Looking forward, if the second semi final, Djokovic v Nadal, goes into some great length, and they have to stop play at 23:00, due to the planning regulation for having the roof on Centre court, they would have to then come back tomorrow, creating more scheduling challenges for the BBC!

Looking like no start to the second semi final until at least 19:00 now.

Bit (okay, a lot) off-topic, but was there a ball boy missing for some of Isner v Anderson? There only seemed to be one behind one of the baselines for a few games. They seem to be back to a full compliment now (that is to say, an hour ago thanks to live pause).

Digital BBC Two indeed was never designed to be able to split into the umpteen English Regions AFAIK, like its analogue predecessor could.

That's why the regional political and documentary shows (i.e. what is currently Sunday Politics and Inside Out) moved to BBC One, ahead of Analogue Switch-Off.

Before those programmes moved channels, viewers in all regions watching digital BBC Two would see e.g. LDN mid-afternoon bulletin on weekdays, and Metropol on Sunday lunchtimes. I think that digital BBC Two might've replaced the regional doumentary strands (which each had unique branding) with something that featured a selection of items from about 3 regions per episode (possibly branded as "Homeground"?).

There was definitely one occasion when a weekday edition of Breakfast was shunted to BBC Two (by sport, presumably?), so digital viewers saw the main Breakfast presenters do extra mini "newspaper front pages" items in place of each regional bulletin.

Nowadays the Wimbledon effect (in years when there isn't a simultaneous World Cup, at least) knocks regional news to e.g. 7pm or later on BBC One, rather than moving channels.

Inverdale has been there number two commentator for the last couple of years and significantly improved since switching from the presenter role. IMO he is the best tennis broadcaster around.

Always thought BBC2 were cutting it fine by scheduling Today at Wimbledon at 7.30pm tonight. Never thought they'd have not begun the second semi-final by then.

Can I go back to a point I made earlier, regards the second semi final having to go into a second day. Although the rules state play cannot go on beyond 23:00, if the third set, for instance, finished at 2240, the tournament directors would then have to decide whether to let the fourth set start, and then stop it at say 2-1, or leave it then, to return tomorrow.

It's all down to what happens in the first semi final first, when that finishes, and then down to what the other two gentlemen do.

One more scenario, this semi final, as mentioned above, goes into a second day!

Is it not possible for them to start the other semi final on another court in these circumstances? Or is it due to ticket sales for Centre Court?
