It was good timing for BBC One is what I meant. Ending right when the scheduled 9pm programme was supposed to start. I've got BBC Two recording as well in case this messed up my Comedy Shuffle series link!

What happened with QI is one of the perils of this sort of thing. Normally avoided by sheer luck but it was bound to happen eventually. Fortunately it was just a standby.

At a guess. Not Going Out at 2240 dropped for regional news?

Why? The tennis started on One at 7pm.

Wasn't as good timing as you all thought then! 8 did wonder what they were going ti do when they ended pointing to BBC2 and QI was starting

Surely as they'd realised BBC Two had already started QI, they could have done Today at Wimbledon on BBC One.

It's not as if Peter Kay clips is exactly the Strictly final.

How did the BBC Two announcer word it after he'd introduced QI two mins earlier. I've never known such a situation except when there is breaking news.

Duncan Newmarch: Well our apologies but we're interrupting QI here on BBC Two to return to Wimbledon and Claire Balding.

Or they could finally realise that Wimbledon is a middle class event, that is neither educational, informative, or entertaining for much of the country and is not where the BBC Sport budget should be focussed.

Oh please! Believe it or not, there are working class people who watch tennis.

Why would they need to do that?

Unless I'm mistaken, there's a 28 minute news bulletin that hasn't been broadcast. It wouldn't be the first time the 'main' bulletin has been on that late during Wimbledon.

You're mistaken. Murray's match started on BBC Two and they moved to BBC One at 19:00.

I don't find football remotely educational, informative or entertaining, but the schedules are full of it and constantly tossed around to accomodate it.

Your post is basically an "I don't like it, so they shouldn't show it" argument.

Good timing would have been it finishing 10-15 mins earlier so they could have wrapped up one of the best matches of the week properly. Should have continued through to 9.30pm. Both shows in the 9pm hour were disposable.

I don't agree entirely with the middle class thing either, my mum got into tennis thanks to her dad's enthusiasm for it, who as a coal miner was prety much as working class as you can get. She's been watching it on TV since the late 50s, and first went to Wimbledon itself with him back in 1978!

I had tennis lessons at my former state school. Not that I was any good at it!

There are plenty of people daily in the park where I live who play tennis and not all of them are Hooray Henry's.
